Listening to his accusations, Natalie nodded and freely admitted it. "I was the one who told her about your little scheme. So yes, from the very beginning, I knew you were trying to set her up. You made it incredibly obvious-what kind of biological father treats his own daughter like garbage?"
"I did a little digging and discovered that Sophia was your mistress. Once I found out you were cheating, I did the right thing and warned Wendy."
She had known about the affair in her past life as well. She had wanted to tell Wendy then, but Wendy's attitude toward her had been so hostile that she never would have believed her. Sometimes, when people valued emotions over logic, the price they paid wasn't just money-it was their lives.
It took a second chance at life for Natalie to finally see things clearly, proving just how foolish she had been the first time around.
"What?!" Nathan gasped in shock. If Wendy had remained clueless, his master plan would have worked flawlessly.
*Ahhh!* He screamed internally, driven half-mad by the revelation.
If Wendy hadn't known, he would be living in absolute luxury right now.
Stumbling back in disbelief, murder flashed in his eyes. "So it was you who ruined everything? How could you be so vicious, Natalie?"
It all made sense now. He had wondered why Wendy had suddenly changed her tune. She had found out about his mistress and his illegitimate daughter.
He had genuinely believed he was the mastermind, only to discover he had been played from the very start.
Seeing his fury and disbelief, Natalie felt a twinge of exhaustion. She had been reborn right at Joanna's birthday party. If she could have chosen, she would have preferred to be reborn long before she ever met Wendy's family.
Back when she and her grandfather were living carefree abroad.
Then she would never have crossed paths with these toxic people, and she certainly
never would have gotten tangled up with Sebastian.
She would have been spared all of this misery.
"That's right! I ruined your plans. My goal from the start was to watch you lose.
When you demanded I sign those severance papers, I signed them without a second thought."
"That was the very same day Wendy found out you were keeping a mistress. At first, she refused to believe me and hurled the most vicious insults at me."
"But then, you couldn't control yourself. You just had to go see Sophia and parade around with her in public. Wendy saw the truth with her own eyes. She realized you were plotting to steal her company and her money, and that you didn't even care about destroying your four sons in the process. That's when she finally believed me."
ét
"And that's why she set you up. For instance, that massive debt? She wasn't lying about that. She really was hundreds of millions of dollars in the hole, and because you were terrified of paying off, you walked right into her trap."
"She still owes about a hundred million dollars, and your current company is worth exactly that much. Why don't you go ahead and pay it off for her?"
Nathan's pupils contracted in pure terror, his bloodshot eyes widening in disbelief. The icy grip of dread washed over him. "What are you talking about? What hundred million dollars?"
Wendy's debt was supposedly real.
Seeing him panic, Natalie rolled her eyes. She was just messing with him, and he bought it hook, line, and sinker.
Not only was Wendy's company thriving, but her business empire was soaring to heights Nathan couldn't reach in three lifetimes.
"Say something, Natalie! What did you mean by that?" he demanded, half his face cast in shadows. He swayed unsteadily, looking exceptionally frail.
Natalie knew his time was running out.
He had accidentally ingested the very same poison he had tried to feed Wendy. Soon, he would suffer a massive stroke and spend the rest of his life needing someone to cater to his every need.
