Chapter 757
Jayson’s chest heaved as he inhaled deeply. The corners of his eyes tinged red. “Alright, go ahead. Tell me about her condition.”
Liam turned to one of the specialists standing nearby–part of the team Jayson had personally brought in from overseas to treat Ariel.
The expert spoke fluent Merinian. “Mr. Larkin, your wife’s body has suffered significant damage following the induced abortion. Her case can no longer be compared to standard cases of endometrial cancer.
“If you choose to preserve the uterus, our team can safely remove the tumor. However, I’ll be frank–there’s a high risk of recurrence and metastasis.”
It was obvious which option they should go with.
Jayson’s mouth went dry as he looked at Ariel, unconscious and fragile.
He knew what needed to be done. But he wasn’t sure how Ariel would feel about it. After all, it was her body.
Still, the decision had to be made.
“Just remove her uterus entirely,” Evelyn said quietly, breaking her silence.
She looked at Ariel’s frail form, barely recognizing the once gentle and reserved woman from her memories.
Evelyn understood the doctors‘ warning. If they didn’t remove the uterus now, a relapse could be devastating. Metastasis would complicate treatment further, and not all organs could be removed as easily as the uterus.
As for the matter of having children…
Evelyn turned to Jayson. “If you’re certain about your feelings, if you know what you want and you’re confident you can handle the consequences and everything that comes with it, then I won’t stop you.”
If Jayson had made up his mind, there was no point in trying to change it.
Her words made Jayson pause. He studied her for a moment, sensing a subtle shift in her attitude.
Then he turned to Liam. “How soon can you schedule the surgery?”
“Tomorrow morning.‘
Jayson slowly reached out and held Ariel’s hand, swallowing hard. “Alright. Begin preparations.”
He couldn’t afford to take any chances. Preserving the uterus wasn’t worth risking Ariel’s life—not with such a high chance of relapse.
He wanted to ensure her survival, no matter what.
Liam paused, taking in the couple before him. Then, without a word, he led his team of experts from the room. They needed to immediately commence their surgical preparations.
Evelyn left the ward as well, knowing how difficult the decision had been. She also had to admit that her view of

But she had done all she could. From here on, Ariel and Jayson would have to face the consequences of their choices together.
The ward fell silent.
Jayson continued holding Ariel’s hand, ignoring the pain from the stab wound on his back. He gently traced the lines on her palm with his finger.
“It doesn’t matter to me whether you have a uterus or not. First and foremost, you’re you. Only then can you be someone’s wife or someone’s mother. Nothing matters more than you–just you. 1
“Ariel, you have to make it through this surgery. I’ll make it up to you when you wake up.‘

The surgery was scheduled for 8:00 am.
Jayson had asked the medical staff to move Ariel onto his bed. The VIP ward beds were large enough to accommodate both of them.
He wanted to hold her, to feel her close. Though his injuries limited his movement, he slowly inched toward her.
His lips pressed into a thin line as he endured the pain in his chest. Eventually, he managed to pull Ariel into his
arms.
He touched her forehead gently, then patted her shoulder in a steady rhythm.
Each time Ariel winced in pain, Jayson felt his heart shatter. His eyes turned red.
Whenever she seemed to suffer, he would lean forward and press a soft kiss to the center of her brow, hoping to soothe her.
That night, Jayson didn’t sleep at all. Even with Ariel beside him, he couldn’t find peace. His mind was consumed with worry about the surgery that awaited her in the morning.
