Chapter 1194:

Elena took a sip. “Everything went smoothly.”

With the course set, Lance walked over to her.

“El, you’ve got some serious guts to trick Torin like that. You’re my goddess from now on! This is incredible! Just thinking about how you played Torin makes me laugh my ass off!” Lance couldn’t stop talking. “Hey, El, didn’t you tell us before that you were done looking for Wesley? What made you change your mind?”

Elena’s eyes darkened, her gaze growing more intense. “I’m not giving up until I see his dead body with my own eyes.”

She had complete faith in Wesley’s abilities and refused to believe he could be killed so easily. Whether he was alive or not, she couldn’t sit idly by. There was a chance he was trapped somewhere and needed her to save him. She had to eliminate Torin once and for all, and she had to find Wesley no matter what it took.

Avo noticed the love and tenderness in her eyes when she spoke of Wesley. He lowered his gaze, trying to hide the pain and sadness flashing across his face.

Though he had long known Elena loved another man, this was the first time he truly understood just how deeply she loved Wesley. Bitterness and pain spread through his chest as he withdrew into himself, keeping his emotions hidden.

Lance, ever the straightforward one, broke into a wide grin. “Alright! I’ll help you track him down!”

The ship glided smoothly across the vast sea, blue water stretching endlessly around them, a soft wind carrying across the deck.

With a loud pop, Lance pulled the cork from a champagne bottle. “While we’re busy hunting Wesley down, let’s have a little celebration. This is the first time all three of us have been together like this.” He raised his glass high. “Let me introduce myself properly this time.”

I’m Lance Schneider, Second Best from the Pantheon, and also the Prince of Yoswye. It’s good to meet you!”

Elena kept her reply short and simple. “I’m Elena Harper, and I’m from Houis.”

Avo looked distant, as if his mind were elsewhere, and didn’t respond right away.

Lance nudged him with a friendly elbow. “Hey, what’s going on with you? It’s your turn to tell us who you are.”

Avo answered curtly. “Ex–special forces. Name’s Alleyne Newman.”

Lance clicked his tongue in surprise. “You’re ex–special forces? Shit, I thought you were just some hired gun. No wonder you can put a bullet exactly where you want it every damn time.”

He was genuinely impressed by Alleyne’s marksmanship. Every bullet the man fired struck dead center, never missing a target.

Lance raised his champagne glass high. “Here’s to making our group of three official—cheers! From now on, El’s gonna be our captain, and I’ll be the vice-captain.”

Alleyne’s response was blunt. “A group of three only needs one captain, not two.”

Lance hadn’t expected that and was left staring at him, mouth hanging open, at a loss for words.
