Chapter 1239:
He quickened his rhythm without hesitation, strong arms guiding Elena’s hips in perfect sync with his own, their bodies moving as one toward a growing crescendo. Intensity burned in Wesley’s gaze, every muscle taut, his control slipping with each thrust as sweat glistened across his back.
Their soft, muffled cries mingled in the air, desire crackling between them. Suddenly, the shrill ring of a phone shattered the spell, cutting through the heated silence and pulling them back to reality.
Elena answered the call. “Just a moment. I’m heading over now.”
She brushed Wesley’s sweaty arm aside with a look of disgust and then reached for the clothes strewn across the bed, preparing to change for her meeting with Lydia.
Wesley slid his arms around her waist and pulled her back into his hold. “Going somewhere?”
Elena’s brow tensed. “Cut it out. Lydia’s here, and I’m going to meet her.”
Wesley pressed his face against her neck and breathed her in like a man starved. There was something addictive about her scent, like it had its own pull. “Babe, how can you be so cruel, just walking away like this?”
They’d just been intimate, and all Wesley wanted was to hold her close. Arion would’ve been stunned to witness this—Wesley, the cold strategist, acting like some love-struck fool, refusing to let Elena go.
Draped in nothing but a bathrobe, Elena planted a foot on Wesley’s chest and looked him squarely in the eye. “Keep acting like this, and I really will dump you.” Her toes, painted a soft pink, stood out against the hard lines of his torso, stirring something in him.
Wesley swallowed hard, his voice turning husky. “Babe, are you really going to talk to me like that?”
His eyes swept to her legs, lingering on the way her pink toes curled slightly against him. He felt his body respond before he could stop it.
Elena pressed her lips together, cinched her robe tighter, and slid off him. Without a word, she flung the robe at his face, using it as a shield, and turned away to get dressed.
Once she finished buttoning her jeans, she headed out to find Lydia.

The guards, well acquainted with Elena, noticed Lydia was with her and stepped aside without comment.
Lydia pulled her into a warm embrace. “Elena, I should’ve come earlier. Thank goodness SecondBest and Avo were somewhat helpful, or I’d have flown in overnight.”
Elena smiled. “They’ll definitely be surprised to see you.”
“Surprised or flat-out shocked?” Lydia’s grin held a wicked edge. “Let’s rattle them a bit.”
Elena gave a knowing smile but said nothing. That mischievous look on Lydia’s face always came out before a prank.
Lydia reached for Elena’s phone and quickly typed out a message to SecondBest and Avo.
