Chapter 1250:

Equestrian had always been Celeste’s strength, but there was more to her choice than that. Equestrian was a sport for the wealthy, known to be exclusive to the upper class. She figured Elena, who grew up in a rundown place, wouldn’t have any experience with it.

When Celeste mentioned equestrian, Elena’s lips pulled into a curious smile. She actually found the idea exciting.

As Elena stayed quiet for a moment, Celeste took it as a sign of fear and became even more smug. “If you’re too afraid, you can just leave Yoswye and never come back around me again.”

Elena answered with a half-smile. “And what if you end up losing?”

Celeste did not hesitate. “There’s no way you could beat me! Keep dreaming. If you actually win, I’ll disappear from your life for good. Is that enough for you?”

Celeste set the stakes so there was no way to back out, certain that Elena would accept the terms. She was confident that in this noble sport, there was no way she could lose to a country bumpkin.

Both Celeste and Lance had gone to the Royal Academy. Lance remembered that Celeste had majored in equestrian and had even been a national champion. He grew worried that Elena would lose, so he reached over and gave her sleeve a gentle tug, silently urging her not to agree to the challenge. Celeste was obviously laying a trap. Not just anyone could win an equestrian championship.

Worried that Elena might not understand his signal, Lance quickly spoke up. “El, don’t listen to her. She’s a champion rider. This is her setup.”

A frown settled on Celeste’s face. “If you’re too scared, then admit it and leave Yoswye now.”

Elena softly slipped her arm out of Lance’s grasp and smiled at him. “Relax, I know exactly what she’s trying to do.”

With Celeste’s confident gaze locked on her, Elena gave a nod. “Equestrian it is. Just don’t regret it later.”

A smug smile crossed Celeste’s face. “You have no clue what you’ve just agreed to. Taking me on in equestrian is a mistake you’ll wish you hadn’t made.” Confidence filled her every time horses were involved. She believed she could outpace any beginner, even without needing to pay attention.

Just as Elena moved to leave the room, the Royal Guards stepped in to block her path, but Celeste snapped at them without hesitation. Since she was Prince Randell’s daughter, none of the guards dared defy her, so they stood back and let Elena pass.

They soon arrived at the Royal Equestrian Center.

With her head held high, Celeste walked up to a sturdy horse. Her father had imported this magnificent animal from overseas, making it one of the finest horses in the land. She stroked its neck and whispered, “Let’s show her what we’re made of, darling.”

It was Elena’s very first visit to Yoswye, so she hadn’t brought a horse of her own.

Luckily, Lance had one. He pointed at a striking white horse in the stables. “El, that’s my horse, Boreas. You’re welcome to ride him, but he has a stubborn streak. Usually, I’m the only one who can handle him. Let me calm him down before you try.”
