Chapter 1306:

Gerald closed his eyes slowly, unwilling to look at this son any longer. Lawrence, who had caused his wife’s death and nearly killed Wesley over a mistress, had no right to judge Wesley.

Lawrence’s face flushed red with embarrassment. He tried to speak, but Gerald waved him away without a word.

Humiliated, Lawrence and Zoie slunk back to Plum Mansion.

When they returned, Theo was sprawled across the living room couch, glued to his game console. He’d only just gotten back this morning after spending the night out. “Hey, Mom, Dad. Where’d you two run off to?” he asked lazily, not even looking up.

Lawrence, still furious from being dressed down by Gerald, exploded, “You’re always out messing around! Look at you—useless! Is this all you plan to do with your life?”

Theo’s in-game character died just as his father yelled, and he threw the controller onto the coffee table, sulking. “You think I want to sit here all day?” he snapped back. “If Wesley hadn’t fired me, I wouldn’t be stuck in this mess! You two let him walk all over us, and then you come home and yell at me? Joseph’s right… You never stand up for anything! You’re spineless!”

“What did you just say?” Lawrence shouted, raising his hand.

Before Lawrence could strike him, Zoie stepped in and stopped him. She quickly calmed Lawrence and nudged him toward the bedroom. Then she turned to Theo. “Theo, you need to learn from Joseph. Wesley’s slipping in your grandfather’s eyes. One day, the Spencer Group will be yours.”

As soon as Theo heard “Spencer Group,” he perked up and tossed his phone aside. “Wait, Mom… Are you serious? Wesley’s really fallen out of Grandpa’s favor?”

Theo had wanted payback for a long time. Wesley had sent him to Tauledo, let him get kidnapped, and even frozen his bank accounts. He’d been stewing ever since.

But Gerald always played favorites and let Wesley control the Spencer Group, while Theo was left behind, sidelined and resentful.

Now, hearing there might finally be an opening for him, Theo couldn’t help getting excited.

Zoie smiled calmly. “Of course it’s true. Why would I lie to you? You need to start learning from Joseph how to manage things. The Spencer fortune will be yours one day.”

Theo straightened up, his voice full of newfound confidence. “Don’t worry, Mom. I’ll be way better than Wesley. Ten times better!”

Just like that, the mood shifted, and Theo felt back on top. “When I take over the Spencer Group, I’ll make sure Wesley pays for every single thing he did to me!”

He grinned, caught up in the fantasy. “Mom, once I’m in charge, I’ll buy you all the jewelry you want. No—forget that, I’ll buy every jewelry shop in Klathe so you can…”

“Choose anything you want. And we’ll move into a grand manor. Just imagine how amazing life will be.”
