Chapter 1308:
Some promises were beyond his reach. Whenever she turned him on, she could never really hold back for long before begging him to stop—but once they started, stopping was never in the cards. Any man who could just put on the brakes in those heated moments hardly deserved the title. Besides, when had Elena ever truly wanted it to end?
A mischievous grin appeared as Wesley caught her hand. “You clearly enjoy it too, so why do you always beg me to stop?”
With a small frown, Elena pulled her hand away. She couldn’t deny that at the start, she was just as enthusiastic. Wesley was nothing if not attentive—he always made sure she felt cherished, never leaving her wanting.
Still, even pleasure could become overwhelming. As the rounds stretched on, she was so drained she could barely move a muscle—yet Wesley seemed to have endless energy. If not for her natural stamina, she suspected there were nights she might have blacked out entirely.
Drawing in a steady breath, Elena suggested, “How about we slow things down and enjoy every moment, okay?”
Wesley responded with a knowing smirk. “Afraid I’ll push myself? Trust me, you’ll never be left wanting,” he said, guiding her hand to rest on his groin.
The contact left no doubt about his capability.
Elena could only roll her eyes, a resigned smile tugging at her lips.
With the conversation set aside, Wesley turned his attention back to their dinner, enjoying the quiet intimacy.
Night swept over Klathe, casting moonbeams that danced across the rippling sea and glittered along the shore. At the pier, a lavish cruise liner—none other than the Gaxora, freshly arrived from distant waters—waited in elegant silence.
At ten that night, a sleek black car pulled up in front of the Harper estate.
Inside, Wesley gently pulled Elena into his arms, resting his chin against the curve of her neck. His voice was low and reluctant as he asked, “You’re really not coming back with me tonight?” He clearly didn’t want to let her go.
Elena nudged his head away and answered firmly, “I’m staying home tonight.” She had already been back in Klathe for two days, and it was time to return home. Her parents would worry if she stayed away any longer.

Besides, she seriously needed a proper night’s sleep. Whenever she stayed over with Wesley, sleep became more of a luxury than a routine. Round after round of intimacy became their nightly activity. He had a habit of being far too affectionate, and resisting him wasn’t easy. Sweet as he was, he could be a handful when it came to bedtime.
Realizing she wasn’t budging, Wesley leaned in and gave her a gentle kiss. “Get some rest. And next time, don’t complain about being tired.” Elena rolled her eyes and stepped out of the car.
Standing nearby, Felix had been freezing in the cold for nearly half an hour. When he finally saw Elena emerging from the car, he gave her a quick nod before quickly getting in. He didn’t dare look at her for too long, afraid Wesley might get the wrong idea and send him away to Huemnard.
Felix felt it wasn’t fair, but there was nothing he could do. He had always rooted for the two of them, but lately even chatting with Elena got him into trouble. It was like Wesley had a radar for jealousy. At this rate, he’d have to give up playing matchmaker altogether.
