Chapter 1312:
Once the meal was finished, Jeffry cleaned up and put everything away neatly in the kitchen.
Droplets ran down his long fingers, catching Lydia’s attention for a second—those were the same hands that had driven her to climax just last night. Shaking her head, she scolded herself for letting her mind wander somewhere it shouldn’t.
Realizing how far her thoughts had gone, Lydia stiffened and quickly turned her back on him.
A shadow crossed Jeffry’s eyes. “I’m staying here tonight.”
“You should leave as soon as you’re done eating!”
They blurted out their words at the same time.
Jeffry stopped, his mouth pressed into a tense smile, fingers curling tightly at his side. She hadn’t looked at him all evening. She had stopped him from being thoughtful. Now she was practically pushing him out the door. Did she truly want nothing to do with him?
Shock settled over Lydia. Was he really not leaving? With how many nights he had spent here lately, it was starting to feel less like her place and more like his. Trying to find a way out, Lydia coughed and tried to sound casual. “My bed’s too small for”
“Both of us. Every morning my back hurts. Why don’t you just go back to your fancy place…”
For good measure, she even rubbed her back as if to prove her point.
Instead of responding, Jeffry simply stared, letting her obvious excuse hang in the air. Night after night, she would cling to him like he was the only thing keeping her steady, while he ended up clinging to the very edge of the mattress. Somehow, her side always seemed to have space to spare. It was clear she just wanted him gone.
After she finished, silence took over, thickening the space between them.
Without warning, the doorbell rang—Lydia’s much-needed rescue. She hurried to answer it.
Ethan stood in the hallway, dressed in black, holding a bag filled with medicine. Since it was his first time visiting her place, Lydia couldn’t hide her surprise. “What brings you here?”

Ethan’s eyes drifted past her, meeting Jeffry’s frosty glare for a second, before focusing on Lydia again, his tone steady. “I noticed your arm was cut earlier. The bureau got new supplies for wound care, so I brought some for you.” He passed the bag into her hands.
Curiosity got the best of her and she dug through it, raising her brows when she saw what was inside. The ointments were nothing short of high-end. “Wow, your department must be rolling in funds. This is not the basic stuff you find at regular drugstores.”
She pulled out a box of bone-healing paste, turning it over in her hand. “This is top-of-the-line. The only time I’ve found it was through a private dealer. Whoever’s ordering for you knows their stuff.”
Ethan answered with just a quiet nod, never mentioning that he had actually paid for everything himself. Out of nowhere, he asked, “Are you two living together now?”
