Chapter 1329:
The young man was left blinking in surprise, while the rest exchanged baffled looks.
In the restroom, Cathy couldn’t fight the nausea any longer and hurried into one of the stalls.
When the sickness subsided, she rinsed her mouth at the sink, frustration etched across her face. If not for the doctor’s warning, she would’ve ended the pregnancy weeks ago. Now she couldn’t even manage a carefree night out with friends.
While she was rinsing her hands at the sink, a familiar voice called out her name. “Cathy?”
Turning around, Cathy spotted Karen, who stared back at her in shock. “I thought you’d moved abroad! When did you get back?” Karen asked, still surprised.
Cathy opened her mouth to answer, but another surge of nausea hit, sending her running for the nearest stall.
Karen stood there, puzzled, unable to piece together what was happening. A few moments later, retching sounds filled the restroom.
Assuming Cathy had simply drunk too much, Karen asked, “I’ve got some hangover pills in my purse. Do you need one?”
But Cathy was too overcome by nausea to answer, hunched over and silent.
Unfazed, Karen nudged open the stall door, offering her a packet of tablets. “Seriously, take this. It’ll help.”
Cathy slapped Karen’s hand away, tears brimming in her eyes. “Just leave me alone, okay?”
The pills tumbled to the floor. Karen pulled back, her patience fraying. “Ungrateful,” she snapped, heading toward the exit.
But halfway to the door, something made Karen stop. Something didn’t add up. Cathy’s eyes weren’t glassy with drunkenness. If she wasn’t drunk, then what was behind the vomiting? And why refuse the medicine?
Suddenly, realization dawned, widening Karen’s eyes. Could Cathy possibly be pregnant?

But as far as Karen knew, Cathy wasn’t seeing anyone. If she were expecting, whose child could it be?
With new suspicion, Karen turned and walked back into the restroom.
Cathy was at the sink again, hands trembling as she washed up. She caught Karen’s reflection in the mirror, her expression wary.
“What are you doing back here?” Cathy asked, bracing herself.
Karen’s eyes flickered down toward Cathy’s stomach, and without thinking, Cathy angled her body to shield herself from view.
Unable to hold it in any longer, Karen blurted out, “Cathy, are you pregnant?”
Cathy immediately tensed up. She quickly looked away from Karen and snapped, “What are you talking about? Karen, if you keep going on like this, I’ll give you a piece of my mind.”
Uncertainty rattled her nerves. Was it possible Karen had put the pieces together? Only three months had passed—surely that wasn’t enough time for anyone to notice. She forced herself to believe she was safe.
