Chapter 1331:

Kirby rarely went out of his way to explain himself, but with Cathy, things were different. He hated seeing her unhappy.

Yet to Cathy, every word seemed to tighten the noose, each sentence landing like a warning that left her heart racing. What would happen if her grandfather learned about her pregnancy? Would he turn his back on her completely?

Cathy bobbed her head absently in agreement.

The conversation only heightened her anxiety about being discovered. She began skipping meals, spending nearly every hour locked away in her room. Worried she might refuse to eat altogether, Kirby told the servants to take her meals up to her room.

But when the maid reached her door with dinner, Cathy was nowhere to be found.

The servant called out, “Miss Garrett, dinner is ready.”

Silence filled the room.

The servant set the food down and was about to leave when she heard someone in the bathroom. She walked over.

Cathy had just finished throwing up. She glared at the servant and snapped, “Who let you into my room?”

The servant, worried, explained, “Mr. Garrett sent me. He saw you missed dinner and wanted to make sure you ate.”

Being a mother herself, the servant recognized what she saw. Cathy’s upset stomach reminded her of morning sickness. But it was hard to believe Cathy could be pregnant.

Annoyed, Cathy grabbed a music box from her desk and threw it hard. “Next time, knock! And don’t ever come in here again!”

The box hit the servant on the forehead, leaving a nasty cut that started to bleed. She hurried out, holding her head.

Everyone in the house knew Cathy had a temper, and most of the servants tried to stay away from her.

After sending the servant out, Cathy thought she had covered up her secret.

When the next day came, she still wouldn’t leave her room to eat.

Kirby had reached his limit and told a servant to bring her downstairs. The servant, now with a bandage, reported, “Mr. Garrett, Miss Garrett won’t let anyone inside.”

Kirby noticed the injury and looked even more upset. It was one thing to avoid him, but hitting the servants was going too far.

“Tell her I said she has to come down. That’s an order,” Kirby said firmly.

With some hesitation, the servant added, “Mr. Garrett, I saw Miss Garrett throwing up yesterday. Maybe she’s sick. Should we call the doctor?”

Right away, Kirby called for their personal doctor.

Cathy had no idea the family doctor had already arrived downstairs. She kept glancing at her phone, waiting anxiously for Wesley to reply to her message. Suddenly, there was a knock at her door. Annoyed, she got up and yanked it open, ready to snap. “Didn’t I say I didn’t want to be disturbed—Grandpa?”
