Chapter 1335:

So, with a straight face, Wesley lied smoothly, “He’s just jealous I’ve got a girlfriend.”

Elena rolled her eyes and pressed down a little harder on his wound. “Then I guess you deserve it.”

Wesley winced, letting out a low groan through gritted teeth.

Outside the office, Felix had just reached the door when he heard the exchange and instantly backed away. He had no intention of walking in on what sounded like a couple’s moment.

Just then, a secretary approached with some files, ready to report. Felix stepped in quickly. “Now’s not a good time to disturb Mr. Spencer.”

Felix bought coffee for the staff and gently pushed everyone away from the office. He figured that was the most he could do for Wesley right now.

Meanwhile, inside his office, Wesley didn’t get the romantic moment he’d hoped for. Elena simply finished treating his injuries, packed away the first aid kit, and that was it.

Later, around noon, they stepped out for lunch at a nearby restaurant. Coincidentally, Karen happened to be dining there with friends. The moment she saw Wesley and Elena, she made a beeline for their table.

“Wesley! What happened to your face?” Karen gasped.

Wesley didn’t even glance up. He just kept cutting up steak for Elena like nothing happened.

Elena answered instead, “He got into a fight with Kason.”

Karen looked puzzled. “Kason? Why would Kason fight my brother?”

Elena gave her a pointed look. “Why don’t you ask Wesley?”

Karen turned to Wesley, hoping for an explanation.

But Wesley simply placed the neatly cut steak in front of Elena and then gave Karen a sharp look. “Don’t you have anything better to do?”

A chill ran down Karen’s spine. She immediately grabbed her friend’s arm. “Right, yeah, I’ve got plans. I won’t interrupt your date.”

Back at her own table, Karen still looked rattled. She had almost forgotten how explosive Wesley’s temper could be. Clearly, interrupting his time with Elena had been a bad move.

One of her friends leaned in and whispered, “Karen, is it true your brother and Kason don’t get along?”

Karen shook her head slowly. “No, they used to be really close. Always hanging out.”

“Then why would they suddenly start fighting?”

Karen didn’t have an answer. The more she thought about it, the more confusing it got. They weren’t supposed to be enemies, so why were they acting like it now?

Karen could not shake the sudden image of Cathy from her thoughts. Memories of Cathy’s pale face, hunched over a restroom sink, clashed with the image of Kason lashing out at Wesley. None of it made any sense.
