Chapter 1341:
Hardheadedness was not Gerald’s nature. He heard her, and her words made sense. His recent fainting spell had left him shaken. He’d bitterly accepted that his days were numbered, and his thoughts kept drifting to what would happen after his death—especially to Wesley.
Listening to Elena, Gerald finally saw his mistake. With sincerity, he offered his apology. “You’ve made me see things differently. I was too focused on shielding…”
Wesley from danger when what he really needs is resilience as the leader of the Spencer Group. Elena, I apologize. I hope you’ll forgive me. Knowing you’ll be with him, even after I’m gone, gives me some peace.”
A smile lit up Elena’s face. “Gerald, you don’t owe me an apology. I’ve always looked up to you.”
Hearing her say that, Gerald felt a flush of shame. He was twice her age, yet her honesty and wisdom outshone his own. He murmured, “That’s comforting, truly.”
Elena noticed that something about Gerald’s mindset had changed. He seemed weighed down, as if he expected his time to run out soon. Having treated him before, she knew that his health—while fragile—could hold steady for years with the right care.
Just to be sure, she offered to check on him, and as she finished her examination, something troubling caught her attention
Elena’s brow creased slightly. “Gerald, would it be alright if I looked at the medication you’ve been taking?”
“Of course,” Gerald replied, though there was a trace of unease in his voice. “But Elena, just tell me the truth. How much time do I really have left?”
“Don’t worry,” Elena replied gently, trying to reassure him. “You still have plenty of time.”
Moments later, the butler entered the room carrying a tray with several pill bottles. “Miss Harper, these are the medications Mr. Spencer has been taking recently.”
Elena took the bottles and gave them a quick scan. Most of them were standard heart and liver supplements, nothing out of the ordinary. She opened one bottle and shook out a single pill into her hand to examine it closely.
“Is there something wrong with the pills?” Gerald asked in confusion.

Elena shook her head and carefully put the pill back. “The medications are fine.”
But Gerald’s condition wasn’t. Her earlier examination had revealed signs that couldn’t be ignored. His pulse was much weaker than before, and his overall vitality had clearly declined. Just a few months ago, he had still seemed strong and full of life. Now, the change was hard to ignore.
She reached into her bag and took out a small bottle with a single capsule inside. “This is something I made. It’s called the HeartShield pill. It’s meant to support your heart. Take one now. I’ll bring you more next month. If you take them regularly, you should feel a real difference in about three months.”
Gerald didn’t hesitate. He took the capsule from her hand and swallowed it with a sip of water. He had full confidence in Elena’s medical skills.
That evening, Elena stayed for dinner, and by the time she left, Gerald not only felt better but also reassured. Her visit had given him peace of mind and revealed just how fragile his health had become.
