Chapter 1348:

Wesley wrapped an arm around Elena’s shoulders and was just about to leave when someone suddenly called out from behind, “Wesley?”

Wesley paused mid-step and turned around.

A graceful woman in a camel-colored coat walked up to Wesley and Elena, wearing a gentle and welcoming smile. “It is you! What a surprise. I thought I saw you earlier but wasn’t sure. I didn’t expect to run into you again so soon. When you left so suddenly last time, I was worried something had gone wrong. I’m glad you’re okay.”

The moment Wesley saw Carola, his usual coldness faded into a polite smile. “Mrs. Stanley. It’s been a while.”

Elena blinked. So this was the woman Wesley had mentioned before, the one who’d saved him out on the open sea.

Elena found herself giving Carola a curious glance. Carola looked refined and elegant, with warm eyes and skin so smooth that it hardly showed her age.

While Elena observed Carola, Carola took notice of Elena. She turned to Wesley and asked, “And who is this?”

“She’s the one I love,” Wesley answered simply.

Carola was a bit surprised—not expecting to see this softer side of Wesley. As he said the word “love,” his expression melted into something tender. Was this the real reason he turned Cathy down?

Carola gave Elena another look. She was indeed beautiful and elegant, with a presence that explained Wesley’s attachment.

Carola smiled gently. “Ah, so she was the reason you disappeared without a word. Now it makes sense.”

Standing side by side, Elena and Wesley looked like a perfect match.

Wesley’s lips lifted into a faint smile.

Elena and Wesley naturally turned heads wherever they went. With their looks and chemistry, they stood out like a dream couple, impossible to miss even from across the mall.

Zoie had just left Gerald’s house, where she’d been rejected more times than she could count. Already in a sour mood, she stepped into the mall, only to immediately spot Wesley and Elena. Her face fell right away, and she muttered to herself, “Seriously? Them of all people?” Bumping into those two was the last thing she needed.

Zoie had no plans to cross paths with Wesley and was ready to head to another mall. But just as she turned to leave, she caught a glimpse of the woman standing opposite him and froze.

Staring in disbelief, she rubbed her eyes as if trying to make sure she wasn’t seeing things. Wasn’t that woman supposed to be dead? How was she standing there, perfectly fine?

Zoie’s face went pale. She looked like she’d just seen a ghost from her past. Since the woman’s back was facing the entrance, she couldn’t see her face clearly.

Zoie quickly stepped to the side, trying to get a better view. And the second she did, her heart nearly stopped. She was so shocked that she didn’t even notice the janitor nearby and accidentally walked straight into him.
