Chapter 1361:

Once Elena stepped into her family home, she wasted no time telling them Wesley would join them for dinner on Saturday.

Jolie looked up. “You’re bringing him to dinner—does that mean what I think it means?”

Elena replied, “That’s right. He’s my boyfriend, and I want you all to meet him properly.”

Louis reacted strongly, shifting from one side of the sofa to the other. “Elena, why bring him here? Dating is fine, but why get so serious so fast?”

He could tolerate his sister having a boyfriend, but the thought of her marrying this soon left him uneasy.

Although Jeffry usually kept his thoughts to himself, this time he let his disapproval show.

“You don’t have to introduce every boyfriend to the family. You just started dating, so what’s the rush?”

He figured that breakups often came unexpectedly, sometimes after just a year or two together. Wesley had no idea his best friend was quietly rooting against him.

Louis chimed in, his enthusiasm obvious. “Jeffry’s got a point. There’s no rule saying you need to bring every boyfriend home. You might break up soon, and all those feelings would have been for nothing.”

Annoyance flashed across Jolie’s face. “That’s enough from you two. How about just being happy for your sister?”

Louis defended himself. “Elena hasn’t dated much. I’m only looking out for her, so she doesn’t get hurt by some jerk!”

Whenever men showed an interest in his sister, Louis could never believe they were decent, Wesley included.

With a gentle touch, Jolie comforted Elena. “Ignore your brothers. Invite Wesley over, and I’ll cook something special for you.”

Gratitude filled Elena as she wrapped her arms around Jolie. “Thanks, Mom.”

Jolie ran her hand through Elena’s hair, her thoughts drifting back to earlier months. It felt like only yesterday that Elena had reconnected with them, and now she was preparing to bring home her boyfriend. How quickly time slipped away.

Saturday arrived, and Wesley showed up at the Harper estate carrying a trunk brimming with gifts for his first proper visit. Ellis came home from the research institute, so the entire Harper family was present.

As soon as Wesley entered the foyer, the men of the Harper family watched his every move with silent judgment. Alexander’s stare was unyielding.

“Mr. Spencer, word is you’re close with the Garrett family. Is that true?”

Wesley’s voice remained steady. “Please, call me Wesley. You’re Elena’s father, and I respect you as an elder. I once owed the Garretts a favor in the past, but that’s been settled. When it comes to closeness, my relationship with Elena matters most.”

He clearly laid out his connection with the Garretts and distanced himself from Cathy. Alexander listened carefully and gave a slight nod, satisfied with the answer.
