Chapter 1363:

Elena flashed a quick smile. “I’ll sit this one out and watch.”

After making sure Elena was comfortable beside him, Wesley pulled out a chair and settled down.

Eager for the game to start, Louis began shuffling the cards with almost boyish enthusiasm. “Let’s try something different. Winner gets to ask a favor from any of the losers—no refusals allowed.”

A gleam of ambition crept into his eyes as he eyed the rare watch on Wesley’s wrist—one of only three in the world. That watch had been the object of his envy for ages, and now he finally saw a way to claim it.

Everyone nodded in agreement, eager for the challenge.

Cards flew around the table as the game got underway.

Curious, Elena glanced at Wesley’s hand—king-high straight flush—then peeked at Jeffry’s cards with a small, knowing smile. No one else had the cards to beat Wesley unless a joker appeared out of nowhere. Louis’s hand revealed a run: four, five, six, seven. Only a three or an eight would finish his set. With a dramatic…

With a flourish, Louis flipped his last card—an eight. Laughter erupted from him. “Tonight’s my night! Straight!”

Louis slapped his hand down on the table, victory clear in his grin. “Anyone able to top that?”

Nothing came from Jeffry or Ellis. Both threw in their hands, shaking their heads in defeat.

Louis turned to Wesley, who simply covered his own cards and slid them away without a fuss.

“I guess I lost. What do you want?” Wesley asked, totally unfazed.

Elena glanced at Wesley, knowing full well he’d thrown the round on purpose, but she said nothing.

Pointing at the luxury watch, Louis couldn’t hide his excitement. “I won’t lie—I’ve been obsessed with that watch for years. A limited edition like that is nearly impossible to find. And yet you just wear it around.”

Wesley laughed and slipped it off, tossing it across the table without a second thought. “You have good taste.”

Holding the watch with reverence, Louis inspected every detail. “This is something else. An absolute masterpiece.”

Pure delight flashed across Louis’s face as he fastened the prized watch onto his wrist. Maybe his sister’s relationship with Wesley had its perks after all.

During the next several hands, the Harper men rotated through victories, leaving Wesley stuck in a losing streak.

“Luck’s definitely not in your corner tonight, Wesley,” Louis teased, grinning. “If this keeps up, you’ll be cleaned out by the end.”

Victory after victory piled up for Jeffry, while Ellis played just slyly enough to make sure Louis came out ahead.

Without missing a beat, Wesley pulled out a sleek black card. “Suppose I run out of things to put on the line. I’ll just swipe this for every round—a million per loss.”
