Chapter 1382:

Wesley’s gaze was cold as he glared at Lawrence.

“How I treat your wife depends on the kind of person she is. You got a problem with that?” In Wesley’s eyes, Zoie was nothing but a homewrecker who tore his family apart. She didn’t deserve even a shred of respect. He’d stayed quiet for Gerald’s sake, but if Zoie and Lawrence thought that gave them a free pass to step on him, they were dead wrong.

Lawrence was shaking with anger, his hands trembling and his eyes practically blazing as he shot daggers at Wesley.

“You arrogant little brat! Apologize now!” Wesley gave a cold laugh.

“Apologize? You think you deserve one from me?” Lawrence opened his mouth to yell, but Wesley cut in sharply.

“I only apologize to those who actually deserve it.” Lawrence fumbled for a response.

All through Wesley’s childhood, Lawrence had treated him like nothing more than someone to command and scold. Even when Wesley later became the head of the Spencer Group, he still disliked Wesley.

Lawrence hated the marriage his family forced on him, and he took that resentment out on Wesley, the child born from it. Just seeing Wesley reminded him of a marriage he saw as a stain on his life. For years, Wesley had put up with his resentment—every insult, every cold word—without ever talking back. But now, just one line from Wesley had left Lawrence stunned and, for the first time, a little scared of the man his son had become.

Struggling to keep control, Lawrence spat, “Ungrateful bastard!” Wesley scoffed and turned his head.

Just then, Zoie stepped in, pretending to play peacekeeper.

“Wesley, is that any way to speak to your father? No matter what, he’s still your dad. I know you don’t think much of me, but at least be respectful toward him. He’s not in great shape these days. What if he falls sick from all this emotional stress? People will talk, and none of it will be good.”

Wesley replied coldly, “If he’s that weak, maybe he should’ve stayed home.”

“You!” Lawrence’s chest heaved as he stared at Wesley, seething with rage. What a disgrace of a son! He should’ve just made the young Wesley die with that wife of his when he had the chance.

Zoie quickly moved to support Lawrence, using the moment to turn everything on Elena.

“Wesley, ever since you got involved with that Harper girl, you’ve had no regard for this family. A woman like that has no place in the Spencer household.”

Wesley responded by pulling Elena closer, his grip around her waist firm and protective.

“And who do you think you are? A mistress, daring to speak about my woman?”

Jaxon looked like his eyes were about to pop out of his skull. Did Wesley seriously just say that out loud? This was the kind of scandal rich families kept hidden behind polite smiles and closed doors, not something to shout in front of a crowd.
