Chapter 1424:

Then something seemed to click in Karen’s mind.

“Elena, I have to go. We’ll talk later.”

Karen darted back to Plum Mansion.

Zoie spotted Karen rushing in and immediately frowned.

“What’s with the rush? You’re the Spencer heiress. Walk with composure, not like you’re running errands. Those etiquette lessons were clearly a waste.”

Karen, well-accustomed to her mother’s scolding, didn’t flinch. Taking the seat beside her mother, she reached for her hand.

“Mom, Wesley’s mom has come back. Please, just stop fighting with him.”

Zoie pulled her hand free, her brows drawn tight.

“Don’t talk nonsense. If I stop opposing him, Theo will lose everything.”

Zoie looked at Karen with clear disapproval. Karen was nothing like her or Joseph—always taking Wesley’s side over their little family.

Karen hesitated before continuing, “Wesley’s mom is getting treatment for her memory loss. While there’s still time, just apologize to Wesley. If you’re sincere, he won’t hold a grudge.”

Zoie froze. Carola was getting treatment for amnesia? Her expression shifted dramatically. That vile woman was trying to get her memory back. No—there was no way she could allow it. If Carola’s memories returned, they were all finished.

Karen kept urging Zoie to treat Wesley better, but her words barely registered. All Zoie could think was that Carola could not reclaim her lost memories. Zoie’s fingers clamped hard around Karen’s hand.

“Who told you she’s getting treatment for her memory loss?” she asked.

Karen winced.

“Mom, you’re hurting me.” She pulled her hand free, two red marks on her wrist showing just how hard Zoie had squeezed.

Still rubbing the sore skin, Karen said, “Elena mentioned it. She’s incredible—she cured Grandpa and even got Kiera speaking again. She can definitely cure Wesley’s mom’s amnesia.”

Damn it—Elena again. Zoie shot out of her chair and hurried upstairs, panic driving her steps.

“Mom, where are you going? I’m not finished!” Karen shouted after her.

But Zoie ignored her, shutting herself inside her room and locking the door before dialing Joseph’s number. Her chest felt tight with dread as the call rang without answer. Joseph had been away for days, leaving her clueless about his whereabouts.

Zoie had believed they were safe as long as Carola remained without her memories. But now that safety was slipping away. If Carola regained her memories, every single thing they’d done would be exposed. Wesley, that infuriating boy, would make sure they paid for all of it.

Finally, the line connected.

Zoie didn’t waste a second.

“Joseph, we’ve got trouble. Carola’s back, and she’s receiving treatment to restore her memory. If she remembers it all, we’re finished!”

“Joseph, we must ensure Carola never regains her memory!” Zoie was overwhelmed with dread, grasping desperately at the only solution she could imagine.
