Chapter 1430:
“You have no clue who’s circling you. Lucky for you, it was me tonight. Another man wouldn’t have hesitated—you’d have been completely at their mercy.”
Brows knit in irritation, Elena flashed him a cold, sardonic grin. Honestly, he wasn’t a decent man. Just a reckless and unpredictable madman.
“Let me go,” she demanded, her tone steely.
A single brow arched in response. Torin drawled, watching her closely, “Oh? Did your senses finally return?”
Seeing the clarity in her eyes, he let her wrists go and put some space between them.
That easy compliance threw Elena off for a moment. Torin hadn’t taken advantage of her while she was drugged? That seemed out of character for him. Sensing her thoughts, Torin slipped his hands into his pockets and grinned.
“Sure, I want you—but not like this.”
Having her unconscious wasn’t how he wanted to claim her. If he were to get laid with her, it would be when she was aware—and willing.
“Why?” Elena asked, not dropping her guard. Why did he help her?
A shadow passed through Torin’s eyes. Truth was, he didn’t want to make things worse between them. That bullet in Yoswye—he’d decided to let it go. As far as he was concerned, their score was settled.
“You put a bullet in me. I’m calling it even,” Torin said, voice even and quiet.
Not a word left Elena’s lips. Back then, she’d aimed for his heart. She never thought he’d walk away.
“Get out, or I’ll tear your eyes from their sockets!” Elena twisted the faucet shut and seized a towel, wrapping it around her trembling form to conceal the curves that her drenched clothes betrayed.
The instant the icy cascade ceased, heat blazed through her veins once more. Torin’s gaze drifted to her crimson ears and throat, his breathing hitching involuntarily. He lifted one eyebrow, voice dripping with mischief.
“Why torture yourself like this? The antidote stands before you. I’d be more than happy to be your remedy.”

His stare burned into her skin.
Elena swept past him without a word, disappearing into the bedroom where she retrieved her medical kit from the discarded coat.
Torin’s eyebrow climbed higher.
“I am better than those medical tools, right? I don’t look bad. You wouldn’t lose anything from making out with me.”
Elena’s hands moved with surgical precision, each motion calculated and merciless. Her face remained marble-cold as she declared, “There’s no aphrodisiac in the world where only a man can be the remedy, and I don’t fancy just any man.”
The rejection sliced through the air like a blade.
Torin absorbed the snub without flinching. He sparked a cigarette to life and observed her systematic battle against the aphrodisiac’s assault.
Minutes dissolved before Elena’s heat broke, and natural color bloomed across her cheeks again.
Her saturated garments clung uselessly to her frame, beyond salvage.
