Chapter 1443:

At that moment, Gerald’s life was no longer hanging by a thread, and Elena stepped toward Wesley, a needle glinting between her fingers.

“Point that finger one more time and I’ll snap it off!” Elena barked, her voice ice-cold.

Zoie froze. The sharp flash of the needle cut through her bravado, and her hand fell limp before she even realized she had recoiled in fear from Elena’s looming presence. Her features then hardened, rage simmering in her eyes like a brewing storm. Why was this insufferable Elena even here at the Spencer estate? Wasn’t Elena supposed to be knocked out, drugged, and abandoned in a stranger’s bed?

Meanwhile, Theo fought tooth and nail to break free from Arion’s iron grip in vain. He hurled curses at Wesley, shouting, “Wesley, you swine! Let me go! It’s your mother who cheated on Dad, yet you want to frame my mom. You’re nothing but a bastard from some tramp!”

Elena’s hand snapped up, and the needle flew past Theo’s face, skimming his temple before embedding itself deep in the wall.

“Keep running your mouth and see what happens. Next time, I won’t be so merciful. The needle won’t just hit the wall.”

Color drained from Theo’s face, horrified at just how close that needle had come to his head.

In a flash, Joseph’s rage boiled over. Eyes burning, he shouted at Elena, “Touch Theo again, and I swear I’ll end you!”

Elena didn’t even blink at his threat. Her expression stayed cold and unreadable.

“So protective over Theo, huh?” she said, her tone calm and almost mocking.

“That’s a real father-son bond you’ve got there.”

Joseph’s whole body went rigid. This cunning woman was doing it on purpose! For a moment, Lawrence had let Zoie’s words sway him, suspecting Wesley had pulled strings to fake the DNA results. But Elena’s remark snapped him out of it. Joseph had shown a fierce determination to protect Theo at every turn. If Theo hadn’t truly been his, why would Joseph care so deeply?

Lawrence’s attention snapped back to Zoie, fury all over his face.

Frantic, Zoie started to defend herself, waving her arms.

“Lawrence, please, don’t believe them! They’re just trying to turn you against me!”

But any trust Lawrence had left was gone.

“Shut up! Have you no shame?” he snarled.

Lawrence was sick with betrayal. Twenty years together, and Zoie had been lying to him all along. He pressed her, voice hard.

“Were you involved in what happened today?” Forcing Gerald to sign the share transfer contract—that wasn’t just heartless but pure evil.

Desperately, Zoie shook her head.

“No, I had nothing to do with it. I swear, I didn’t know any of this!”

Wesley glanced up. Catching the silent cue, Arion landed a swift kick at Theo, sending a clear warning for him to behave. Without another word, Arion left to fetch the two captives—a doctor and a maid.

Trembling with fear, the maid rushed straight to Zoie for help.

“Ms. Perez, save my ass! I did everything you told me to all those years ago. You can’t just abandon me after using me as a pawn!”
