Chapter 1446:
Arion nodded.
“Understood.”
The maid and the doctor were promptly taken away by Arion.
The truth stood bare: Joseph and Zoie had plotted Carola’s death and had almost succeeded.
Wesley pressed his foot against Joseph’s head.
“Got any final words?”
The degrading act crushed Joseph’s pride entirely. Even now, Joseph remained defiant.
“You wouldn’t dare kill me. You couldn’t explain this to Gerald if you did.”
Wesley’s face remained like stone.
“No biggie. I’ll just tell him you were sent abroad. He’ll never learn you’re dead.”
Joseph, straining to lift his head, locked eyes with Wesley’s emotionless stare and realized in horror that Wesley was not bluffing. For the first time, terror seized him. His voice broke.
“W-What are you gonna do, Wesley? I’m your uncle. You can’t kill me!”
Zoie dashed forward, trying to push Wesley’s foot off Joseph.
“Wesley, let him…”
Her fingers brushed Wesley’s trousers, and his glare darkened with rage. He kicked her aside like worthless refuse.
“Get lost!” But Zoie clung desperately to Joseph.
Theo rose from the floor, stepping in front of Zoie and Joseph as a shield. He had always preferred Joseph to Lawrence, so realizing Joseph was his true father didn’t bother him one bit.
“Wesley, don’t you dare touch them!” Theo yelled.
Done with this moron, Wesley calmly lifted a pistol, flipped the safety off, and aimed it at Theo.

“If you want to join them in death, I’ll gladly grant it.”
“Wesley, you’ve lost it!” Zoie cried, horrified. She had long known Wesley was ruthless, but never to this level—ready to kill in an instant.
“Murder is a crime. If you harm Theo, I’ll call the police!”
Wesley narrowed his eyes.
“Go ahead. Try.”
His long fingers, caked with dried blood, squeezed the trigger.
“Ah!”
Zoie broke down, screaming in despair.
Gerald slowly forced his eyes open and rasped, “Enough. Wesley, drop the gun.”
Wesley pivoted and fixed his gaze on Gerald, lying limp on the sofa. Though a faint color tinged Gerald’s cheeks again, his body remained frail, straining merely to stay upright.
“Wesley, you don’t heed my words now? No matter the crimes, family ties remain. Let the authorities deal with those wrongdoers.”
