Chapter 1447:
His statements emerged in staggered gasps, each phrase stealing his strength. Wesley stood still for a long pause. Finally, for Gerald’s sake, he lowered the gun.
“I’ll spare Joseph’s life. But he’ll rot in prison until death.”
Gerald exhaled a tired breath, aware this was the farthest Wesley would bend.
Joseph thrashed against Wesley’s men, who gagged him and dragged him out. Zoie hurled herself forward to stop them but stumbled and crashed to the floor.
Theo’s hands tightened into fists.
“Wesley, I’ll bring you down myself!”
Theo lunged with a strike, but before his blow could brush Wesley’s shirt, Wesley subdued him effortlessly with one hand.
Theo’s muscles strained as his glare burned.
“Let Joseph go, or you’ll regret it!”
Unshaken, Wesley gestured for his subordinates to silence Theo. Unable to resist or speak, Theo fumed in powerless fury.
Zoie tugged on Theo, attempting to slip away, when Elena’s voice cut sharply through the room.
“Give it to me.”
Elena extended her hand.
Zoie stiffened.
“Give you what?”
“The drug you slipped Gerald before,” Elena said.
Gerald’s condition had been severely harmed. Elena’s dietary supplement sustained him briefly, but genuine healing required the right remedy.
Zoie’s gaze wavered as she feigned ignorance.
“I have no idea what you mean. When would I have given him any medicine?”
Elena lifted a needle, inching it closer to Zoie’s eye.

“One last chance. What did you give Gerald?”
The gleaming point hovered dangerously near, and Zoie’s pupils quivered with dread. Yet she dared not reveal it. If she admitted it, that maniac Wesley would end her instantly.
Zoie’s jaw locked, her complexion drained white.
Just as the needle threatened to pierce Zoie’s eye, Karen suddenly spoke.
“I know the answer.”
Elena halted.
Karen reached inside Zoie’s pocket and retrieved a small porcelain container.
Zoie’s eyes widened.
“What are you doing?”
Ignoring her outburst, Karen presented the container to Elena.
“These tablets… My mother forced me to put them in Grandpa’s water.”
“Karen, you wretched child! From this moment, you’re no daughter of mine!” Zoie shrieked as her scheme unraveled.
