Chapter 1448:

Karen pressed her teeth into her lip, her face colorless, yet said nothing.

Elena tipped a pill into her hand, inhaled its scent, and then gave Wesley a firm nod.

“This is it.”

Wesley started to lift his hand to pat her head, but when he noticed the blood on his palm, he let it drop.

“Take my grandpa to rest first,” he said.

“I have unfinished matters. Afterward, I’ll come to you.”

Elena understood what he intended and nodded.

“Alright.”

Once Elena and Gerald departed, tension spiked.

Wesley sank into the chair.

Zoie clung tightly to Theo, trembling as she stared at Wesley.

“What are you going to do?” Would this madman kill her?

Wesley’s voice was almost casual.

“Relax. I’m not going to kill you.”

A flicker of relief crossed Zoie’s features as she released an unsteady breath.

Then Wesley’s mouth curved into an icy grin.

“Death would be far too merciful.”

“Wesley, you are a maniac! If you so much as lay a hand on my mom, I’ll kill you!” Theo roared in fury, his tongue having slipped out from the cloth that gagged him.

Wesley lifted his chin ever so slightly, and at once his subordinates stepped forward.

“Mr. Spencer, the arrangements at the mental asylum have been completed.”

“A mental asylum?” Zoie’s eyes flew wide open in shock.

“Wesley, are you seriously trying to send me to a mental asylum? I’m not sick! Don’t you dare think of locking me away in a madhouse!”

Zoie seethed. Wesley had truly lost it—he actually wanted to lock her away. The asylum was a terrifying place, full of people driven mad. She wouldn’t go—never, not even if it cost her life.

Veins bulged across Theo’s forehead as his fists clenched tight.

“Wesley, don’t you dare think of locking my mom away in a mental asylum! You lunatic! The one who ought to be locked away is you!”

Grinding his teeth, Theo glared fiercely at Wesley, wishing he could charge forward and tear him apart. If it weren’t for Wesley, he would never have fallen to such a miserable fate, and Joseph would not have been taken by the police. All of this was Wesley’s doing.

Theo vowed he’d kill Wesley one day.

“Wesley, you’re nothing but a harbinger of doom! If it weren’t for you, our family would still be living in wealth and peace. You shattered everything and ruined my home! Don’t think that just because you now hold the reins of Spencer Group you can sleep soundly. One day you’ll fall and meet the same fate as I did!”

Wesley let out a cold, mocking laugh.
