Chapter 1464:
Karen stood there, letting the insults wash over her, giving him nothing in return.
He continued, bitter and spiteful, “Think you can get by with the rest of us ruined? Don’t fool yourself. Wesley’s not going to let you off easy. You’ll end up worse than any of us, mark my words.”
Karen didn’t want to listen any longer. She tried to walk past Theo, but he grabbed her arm.
Theo raised his hand, ready to strike.
“Did I give you permission to leave, Karen?” But this time, his hand stayed in the air, frozen. Karen had grabbed his wrist. She shoved him back, putting space between them.
Theo staggered, rage coloring his face.
“You’ll regret this, Karen! Just wait!”
Karen looked him in the eye, voice calm and deliberate.
“Theo, stop before you make things even worse.”
She saw it clearly. For years, Theo had plotted against Wesley, never learning from his failures. If not for Wesley’s patience, Theo wouldn’t even be standing here. Now, both Joseph and Zoie were left to face the consequences they had brought upon themselves.
Red-eyed and trembling with anger, Theo shot her one last glare.
“You traitorous scum—I’ll see what kind of fate awaits you.”
Karen didn’t flinch, her expression as steady as stone. Frustrated, he turned on his heel and stalked away, anger radiating from every step.
Karen entered the hospital, determined to visit Zoie.
Zoie was soon brought out.
The moment their eyes met, Zoie’s features hardened.
“I don’t want to see you. Leave right now!”
If it wasn’t for this ingrate, Wesley would never have learned the truth about Gerald’s poisoning.

Zoie’s voice dripped with disdain as she turned away.
“You’re no daughter of mine. Just go.”
Pain flickered in Karen’s gaze, but she stood her ground.
“Mom, you can blame me all you want, but I did what I had to. If Grandpa had died, Wesley would have destroyed you.”
Zoie’s lips curled into a sneer.
“Save your excuses. If you really cared for me, you would have finished off Wesley.”
Karen’s hands curled into fists, nails biting into her palms. It broke her heart, hearing her mother wish harm on Wesley, even now. After everything, Zoie still clung to the hope of revenge. Couldn’t she see? They were powerless against Wesley. The only reason they were still breathing was Gerald’s mercy.
Karen spoke gently.
“You’re alive now by the skin of your teeth. Please, let go of this fight. Wesley’s not someone you can beat.”
A flash of ruthlessness flickered in Zoie’s eyes. Who said she couldn’t win?
Zoie suddenly turned, grabbing Karen’s wrist.
