Chapter 1471:
Lyla’s stubbornness was plain as day, so Carola rose from her seat.
“Alright, your father will be home soon. I’ll go out and meet him.”
Lyla wasn’t discouraged. One day, Carola would see how brilliant her idea was.
Wesley had barely settled in at his desk when Felix knocked, a phone clutched in his hand.
“Mr. Spencer, here’s the surveillance footage from Peak Hotel you requested.”
Felix paused for a moment before passing over the phone.
“Just—be prepared.”
“You might not like what you see.”
Wesley shot him a sharp look.
“No need for warnings. Hand it over.”
Felix quickly gave him the phone and edged away, not wanting to get caught in the storm.
Wesley scrolled through the video, his face unreadable, though his grip on the phone tightened dangerously. Torin’s face appeared on the screen. Somehow, he had survived and made his way to Klathe. Showing up here was practically begging for death.
Felix kept a wary eye on his new phone, silently praying Wesley wouldn’t shatter it in a fit of rage.
“Where is he now?” Wesley asked icily.
“He’s at The Empire,” Felix answered.
Wesley tossed the phone back to Felix without a word and strode toward the door. Felix scrambled to catch the device and hurried after him.
Inside The Empire’s exclusive penthouse suite, the city’s wealthiest power players crowded together, each one desperate to get on Torin’s good side.
“Mr. Duncan, have you considered investing in Klathe? My firm specializes in chip production. Maybe you’d like to take a look?”
𝗙𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 ⲅ𝖺𝖑𝗇𝗈𝖛𝖊𝗅𝘀﹒ⅽ𝗈𝗺
“The Spencer Group already has the chip market locked down. Mr. Duncan probably wants something with more potential. My field is renewable energy—Mr. Duncan, maybe you’d like to sit down and talk about that?”
“You think your company is worth his time? The Harper Group is at the forefront of renewable energy in Klathe. I doubt Mr. Duncan would waste a minute on your operation.”
“You want to repeat that?”
“Just calling it like I see it. No need to get all defensive.”
At the heart of the gathering, Torin twirled a cigarette between his fingers, a faint smirk playing on his lips as he watched the business titans bicker. A sudden crash echoed as the door swung open, silencing the room. Every head turned toward the entrance.
Wesley swept the room with a chilling stare.
“Get out if you don’t want trouble.”
Everyone present recognized Wesley at once. Realizing things were about to turn ugly between Wesley and Torin, they scrambled to get out.
