Chapter 1486:

Quentin’s smile faltered.

“Healer, was Yvette’s apology not good enough for you? That’s fine. If you want more, I’ll have her say sorry as many times as it takes.”

He glared at Yvette and shouted, “Get down on your knees and apologize to the Healer right now. If you can’t get her forgiveness, you’ll stay kneeling until she feels satisfied.”

Yvette stared at him in disbelief. She had never thought he would force her to apologize to Elena, of all people.

“Grandpa, I’m your granddaughter!”

Quentin had no sympathy. He waved his hand, and the bodyguards moved forward, shoving Yvette down to her knees.

To Quentin, if sacrificing Yvette’s dignity would bring the family back from ruin, then that was a price he was willing to pay.

Pinned to the floor with her hand restrained behind her back, Yvette couldn’t even move. There weren’t many people standing around the mall entrance, but a few curious glances were thrown her way. She felt her face flush with embarrassment and rage. All sense of pride was gone.

Quentin forced a smile and tried to please Elena.

“Healer, what do you think about this apology?”

Elena sneered internally. Quentin was so desperate for a deal that he’d throw his own granddaughter under the bus just to get on her good side. He couldn’t have read the situation more wrong. No wonder Yvette was so dumb—it was inherited. She hadn’t

Elena had never promised a thing, yet Quentin was ready to humiliate his own family on the off chance she would agree to a partnership.

“Not bad,” she said with a cold nod.

Quentin pushed his luck.

“So, about that partnership—”

“I don’t recall saying I’d work with your family, Mr. Jimenez. Did you get the wrong idea?” Elena cut in.

The color drained from Quentin’s face. Upon reflection, he realized she had indeed said nothing about cooperation. So why had she called him in the first place?

His brow furrowed, a sharp edge entering his voice.

“If this isn’t about business, why did you want to see me?”

Elena pointed at Yvette, who was still on her knees.

“Maybe you should ask her.”

A sour look crossed Quentin’s face as he glared at Yvette.

“What happened?” he demanded, tone sharp and impatient.

Yvette hesitated. Words caught in her throat, and she kept silent, too afraid to tell the truth. For a moment, she had believed Elena could be easily bullied now that Wesley had supposedly dumped her. She had never guessed Elena was the famous Healer, much less that Elena would summon both Quentin and Mattie to this confrontation.

Glancing away, Yvette avoided Quentin’s eyes, anxiety written across her face.

Even without an explanation, Quentin and Mattie pieced it together at once. There was no denying it: Yvette had crossed a line with Elena, and Elena had called Quentin to settle it.
