Chapter 1505:

Carola figured money would work like it always had, the same way Lucian bought Elena’s help for her own amnesia case.

“I think you’re confused, Mrs. Stanley.” Elena’s tone was indifferent.

“Money doesn’t sway me.”

Carola insisted, desperation in her voice, “You treated my amnesia, didn’t you? Why can’t you treat Lyla?”

Elena answered, “I helped you with amnesia for Wesley’s sake, not for money.”

Carola latched on to that answer, begging, “Then for Wesley’s sake, cure his sister!”

Apparently, she’d forgotten what led to Lyla’s injury in the first place. But Elena remembered every detail.

Elena retorted, “Mrs. Stanley, what kind of sister shows up dressed like that just to throw herself at her own brother?”

For a second, Carola stood there, speechless. All her thoughts had revolved around Lyla’s hand. She had forgotten who she was asking for help—and why.

Wesley gave Carola a cold look.

“It’s late. We’re going to bed. See yourself out.”

Wesley got up and gently guided Elena upstairs, leaving Carola behind in the empty living room.

With Elena unwilling to help, Carola had no choice but to rush back to the hospital to try other options.

Time was running out, and Lyla’s injury couldn’t wait. Lucian had sent his men to track down the top orthopedic surgeon and bring him back overnight.

Because of all the delays, Lyla suffered through prolonged agony just for a slim chance at saving her hand.

Every bit of Lyla’s anger boiled over—she blamed everything on that wretched Elena.

Lyla sprawled out on the hospital bed, tears streaming as she poured her complaints to Carola.

“Mom, Elena is truly horrible! She just sat there and watched me suffer, never once lifting a finger to help. She’s hoping my hand never heals, and I can’t stand it! We have to do something about her!”

Inside, her anger twisted into something darker. She wanted Elena not just gone, but ruined; she imagined slashing Elena’s pretty face, destroying her looks so she could never tempt Wesley again.

Even worse, Lyla imagined rounding up men to violate Elena, just so Wesley would turn away from her in disgust. The thought of breaking Elena’s bones one by one played in her mind, convinced Elena deserved to feel the insufferable pain.

After tonight’s events, Carola’s impression of Elena had hit rock bottom. She saw Elena as heartless and cruel. Elena could have cured Lyla, but she had merely stood by and done nothing, making Lyla suffer.

Carola decided then and there that Elena was not worthy of Wesley.

At the thought of Elena, Carola’s face hardened with contempt.

“I had no idea she could be this heartless.”

Lyla clenched her jaw.
