Chapter 1507:
Lucian listened without interruption. He had been aware of Carola’s and Lyla’s actions.
Worry etched across her face as she spoke softly.
“I can’t just watch Wesley end up with a woman like that. But he won’t listen to me. If I force them apart, do you think he’ll end up hating me?”
She was determined to push Elena out of Wesley’s life, but the thought of Wesley resenting her made her hesitate. Their relationship had already been distant.
Lucian traced his finger gently across her brow, smoothing away the frown lines.
“He won’t find out. Try to rest. I’ll handle everything.”
Whenever Carola faced trouble, Lucian had always taken care of it quietly. She had learned to depend on him completely. Carola slowly drifted off to sleep while his steady presence gave her comfort.
When her breathing settled into a peaceful rhythm, Lucian slipped out of bed and made his way to the study.
It never took him long to get someone’s contact information when he needed it. In less than ten minutes, he made a call and left the house.
At that time, Wesley was already at the Spencer Group office. Elena had just walked out of Hillside Manor when a black Cayenne pulled up in front of her.
The car window slid down, and Lucian’s voice called out, “Miss Harper, may I have a word?”
Elena didn’t hesitate. She got into the car, and the vehicle quickly pulled away.
Lucian retrieved a box packed with gold bars and presented it to her.
“Miss Harper, walk away from Wesley, and all this gold will be yours.”
The sight of so much gold took Elena by surprise. She picked up a bar and calmly looked at Lucian.
“If I say no, are you going to threaten me next, Mr. Stanley?”
Lucian blinked in surprise. He had not expected her to be so unfazed, even as she saw through his intentions. Instead of answering directly, he continued, “If you agree to leave Wesley, you and your family won’t face any trouble.”

At the threat, a cold edge crept into Elena’s gaze.
“Why did you assume I would accept your terms?” Elena’s tone was cold as she lifted her chin, her gaze steady, unwavering, and fearless. The severity in her eyes pressed down with silent force, her expression sharp and unrelenting.
Lucian felt unease stir beneath her stare. In different circumstances, had his wife not been involved, he might have considered befriending Elena. But Elena had unsettled his wife’s peace, and that made her his adversary.
“The Harper family is chasing an offshore new energy project,” Lucian said in an even voice.
“With just one call, I can have them erased from the bidding list.”
He considered that mercy, the lightest warning he could give. If she resisted, he was prepared to go further—cutting the Harper family off from clients, or even striking at them more personally. Honestly, he actually appreciated Elena. Her medical brilliance and fearless will impressed him. Yet he hoped she would see reason before he was forced to crush her.
But Elena had never been one to yield. No threat had ever broken her resolve. A smirk touched her lips as she revealed a recorder.
