Chapter 1514:
Legend gave her nothing—no glance, no movement. Had it been only Elena, he might still have tested his odds, but with Torin looming above, resistance was suicide.
From the moment his eyes had settled on Torin, he knew. This was the infamous mastermind of Shadow—arms dealer, drug baron of Delta, destroyer of all opposition. No one who crossed Torin drew another breath.
At that moment, Torin’s subordinates showed up, solidifying the inevitable.
Torin gazed at Elena and remarked smoothly, “Not bad. Your aim hasn’t dulled one bit.”
Her accuracy remained as sharp as the day she’d once aimed at him.
The balance of control had shifted entirely; Legend was shackled under Torin’s dominance.
Elena returned the weapon to Torin with a steady hand.
“Appreciated.”
One of Torin’s brows arched, a richer smile tugging at his mouth—it was rare indeed for Elena to speak gratitude aloud.
“Always my pleasure,” he drawled, eyes gleaming with amusement.
From the corner, Lyla’s gaze narrowed, triumph glinting as if she had unearthed a scandal.
“Elena, so that’s it—this man is your secret lover. I knew someone like you could never stay faithful. Does Wesley even realize you’re betraying him? Imagine his face when he learns he’s been played for a fool—would he still adore you then?”
A sharp crack resounded—Elena’s palm across Lyla’s cheek. Lyla clutched her face, stunned.
“You dare hit—”
Another strike silenced her.
Her rage flared.

“I’ll tell Wesley—”
Elena’s hand cut her short again.
“You’ll pay for this! My parents will—”
Another merciless blow landed.
“You—”
Another slap stung across her skin.
Elena’s stare was glacial, each wordless strike drowning Lyla’s defiance.
Fear finally slipped through Lyla’s bravado, her eyes darting, her hands trembling against her burning cheeks. She stood frozen, torn between hurling curses at Elena and cowering from more strikes, her expression warped with fury and terror.
“What are you trying to do?” Lyla croaked, lips swollen, glaring through the haze of pain.
Elena’s voice sliced like a blade.
“Since you’re foolish enough to keep presenting your face to me, don’t whine when it’s struck. I won’t show restraint.”
Lyla sucked in a breath to retort, but Elena cut across her with a sharper edge.
