Chapter 1536:

“Ellis, keep Charlette safe.”

Ellis warned, low and urgent, “Don’t act rashly. I’ve called for help—backup’s on its way.”

Elena raised a hand, steady and untroubled.

“Relax. Handling this handful won’t take long.”

Ellis was about to argue further when Elena moved—and slapped Maddox across the face without hesitation.

Maddox boiled with outrage.

“How dare you strike me?”

Elena allowed herself a small, humorless laugh.

“Good thing you’ve switched off the broadcast and the cameras—it makes taking action much simpler.”

When it came to dealing with scumbags, Elena never held back. A dozen muscle-bound thugs came at her, and she sent them tumbling with one blow after another, barely breaking a sweat. Maddox, his cheeks ballooning from Elena’s relentless slaps, could only stand there, wild-eyed with rage and disbelief. He never stood a chance against her.

The livestream feed had abruptly gone dark, sending viewers into a frenzy.

“What just happened? Why’d the stream cut out?”

“Is that old creep up to something? I hope nothing bad happened to the girl.”

“Come on, there’s more than enough evidence now—everyone can see he was faking everything!”

“If he lays a finger on her, I swear, I’ll find a way to teach him a lesson!”

“Could anyone tell us what’s really going on in there?”

“Someone should call the cops. That guy gives me the creeps—what if he actually tries to hurt her?”

Luckily, someone already had. Patrol cars screeched up to the TV station in no time.

Two officers strode in, flashing their badges.

“We got a report about an assault. Where’s the young woman in danger—”

They trailed off, jaws dropping. All around them, huge men lay sprawled across the floor, battered and groaning. Standing in the middle was Elena, perfectly composed and barely out of breath. This was the assault they’d been called for?

One officer stepped forward, trying to make sense of the scene.

“Miss, could you tell us what happened here?”
