Chapter 748:
Stella dismissed everyone except Wesley. She sneered, her voice dripping with arrogance, “She ran right into me. If you apologize for her, seeing as you helped me out before, I might just let it slide.” She showed no remorse for injuring Kiera.
Malcolm’s eyes narrowed behind his glasses, his gaze like ice. “Miss Russell,” he said, his voice dripping with disgust. “Not only are your eyes clearly not working, but it seems your ears aren’t either. Nobody’s apologizing to you. You’re the one who owes my sister an apology.”
Stella scoffed. “Why the hell would I apologize?”
Seeing her brother stand up for her, Kiera tugged on his sleeve and shook her head. Her face was still pale, and one could see the fear in her eyes.
Kiera could tell Stella seemed like a real piece of work, and she didn’t want her brother to offend Stella for her sake.
Louis let out a cold chuckle. After all his trying to make Kiera feel braver, he’d barely managed to give her a little bit of strength, only for Stella to stomp all over it again.
Unable to watch Kiera looking so scared and upset, Louis stepped right in front of her, blocking Stella’s view.
“Miss Russell,” Louis began, his voice sharp as a tack, “I was raised to respect women, but you’re a special case. Because clearly, you don’t understand plain English, and frankly, you’re not fit to be called a decent woman.”
Stella froze, her face turning red with rage as his words sank in. He was insulting her!
After everything that had just gone down, Stella’s fury exploded. “Who the hell do you think you are, talking to me like that?”

“How about you introduce yourself before demanding answers?” Louis retorted without missing a beat.
Anger flared in Stella’s chest, and her voice quivered as she said, “You uncultured savage!”
Evelyn’s face soured as the tension in the air thickened. With it being her wedding day, watching Louis verbally lash out at Stella in front of everyone felt like a slap—not just to Stella, but to her as well. Plus, Liam, Stella’s father, happened to be the mayor. The last thing Evelyn wanted was to make an enemy out of Stella.
“Louis, that was out of line. Stella didn’t mean to bump into anyone,” Evelyn said, hoping to ease the mood and keep the peace. She expected Louis to recognize the situation and offer a decent apology, especially with her being his future sister-in-law.
Instead, Louis scoffed and replied coolly, “She didn’t mean to? Did that give her permission to act like everyone else is beneath her?” The bluntness of his response left Evelyn grasping for words.
Rather than appreciating Evelyn’s effort, Stella turned to her and hissed, “Seriously, Evelyn, what kind of family did you marry into? Their manners are laughable. I’d never tolerate them in my life.”
