Chapter 808:

Standing outside, Elena noticed the curious and sometimes judgmental looks from the students. Whispers and pointing fingers were not uncommon.

Despite being scrutinized, Elena maintained her poise, unaffected by the surrounding stares.

While she chose to remain aloof, some saw this as an opportunity to provoke her.

A student, backpack slung over her shoulder, approached Elena with a scornful tone. “You realize this is Klathe University, right? It’s not for everyone. If you’re not part of this school, you shouldn’t be here.” The student’s face twisted into a sneer of contempt. “Plagiarists are unwelcome at Klathe University, especially those who lack both ethics and awareness like you.”

The student in question was Susanna Wallace, a standout at Klathe University, who had seen Sylvia’s live stream and developed a strong dislike for Elena.

Susanna consistently ranked at the top of her class and firmly believed her writing far surpassed Lena’s. To her, Lena was nothing more than a product of the media—overhyped and lacking both real ability and academic credibility. She was convinced that if she had been born just a few years earlier, she would have easily outshone Lena.

Elena’s expression turned sharp. “Which rule of Klathe University says only enrolled students are allowed on campus?”

As far as she knew, the university grounds were open to the public. It wasn’t uncommon for locals to use the athletic fields for exercise and recreation.

Of course, Susanna couldn’t cite any such rule because there wasn’t one. Still, her tone remained arrogant. “Students at this university don’t want someone like you lingering here.”

Elena didn’t flinch. “And who exactly appointed you to speak on behalf of everyone at Klathe University?”

With a haughty toss of her head, Susanna replied, “I rank first in every subject. That makes me more than qualified to represent the student body.”

Elena tilted her head, her voice laced with irony. “Is being at the top of your class something worth bragging about?”

Elena had been personally admitted to Imperial University by the principal, without needing to take entrance exams. At Imperial University, it was common for outstanding students to be exempt from routine testing. In that environment, being the top scorer wasn’t anything special.

For Susanna, who had never faced real competition, this struck a nerve. She rolled her eyes and sneered, “Of course you wouldn’t get it. Someone who’s never even attended college wouldn’t understand what it means to be number one. You just sound ignorant.”

“Is that so?” Elena replied with a slow, amused smile.

“Talking to someone so uneducated is a waste of my time. Leave already—you’re embarrassing this school just by being here. Let me remind you, this is the most prestigious university in all of Houis. Professor Haywood, an internationally acclaimed scholar, is delivering a lecture today. If you cause a scene, the consequences won’t be light.”

Susanna looked down on anyone she perceived as weaker.

Susanna looked down on anyone with a weaker academic background. Students passing by began to slow, their eyes settling on Elena with open judgment.
