But with her cancer, a liver cancer at that, no hospital would have ever allowed her to donate stem cells.

It was clear she was still worried about Henry's health.

"He had the surgery," Vince reassured her. "It wasn't a particularly complicated procedure. He was discharged from the hospital two weeks ago, safe and sound." As for Timothy... Jessica didn't want to ask.

"That's good. I'm glad he's okay." At the end of the day, he was her son. How could a mother not worry? The Lawsons might not have liked her, but they all adored Henry. He would be well cared for with them.

Jessica was still weak and couldn't stay outside for long. Besides, it was time for her morning medication. Seeing the time, Vince guided her back to her room.

Sheila spent the entire morning undergoing a battery of tests. By the end of it, she was exhausted and irritable. When it was finally over, she saw it was already noon and wanted to go out for lunch.

"You can't leave the hospital right now," Herbert told her firmly. "And you can't eat just anything. A special meal will be brought to you shortly. I need you to stay here for the time being."

After all the trouble of finding a donor, Herbert wasn't about to risk any

complications. It was best if Sheila remained at the facility. This wasn't a public hospital, so there weren't many other patients. All the tests could be expedited, and they'd have the results by that evening. An operation tomorrow afternoon was almost certain.

Stuck in her room, Sheila decided to call Timothy.

She had called him once before, and he'd been reluctant to answer. This time, however, he couldn't ignore it. He picked up.

"Timothy, can you come keep me company? Dr. Wheeler won't let me leave, and I'm so bored here all by myself."

"Put Dr. Wheeler on the phone. I'll ask him if it's alright for me to visit."

Sheila handed her phone to Herbert. "It's Timothy. He's asking if he can come."

Herbert took the phone. "You can come over," he said.

He had placed Sheila in a separate building, a good distance away from Jessica's room. Jessica was rarely able to go out these days anyway.

"She won't find out, will she?" Timothy asked.

"No, the buildings are far apart. And she's been quite weak lately, so she doesn't go out much."

"Alright." Timothy didn't want

Jessica to know about this either The most important thing was for

her to have the surgery without any ssues.

He wasn't coming to keep Sheila company; he was coming to keep her stable.

He arrived shortly after.

Even though she was donating a part of her liver, and any surgery carried risks, Sheila wasn't particularly scared. She trusted that Herbert, desperate to save Jessica, would have hired the world's top surgeons. Besides, she was just the donor; the greater risk was Jessica's.

Timothy hadn't contacted her in a long time. Even if this was the only way to have him by her side, she was willing to take it.

"Timothy,” she began, “have you thought about when we should have the wedding?"

"What about you? When do you want to have it?" He had to follow her lead. As long as she donated her liver, he would agree to anything.

"I'll need time to recover after the

surgery, and New Year's isn't too far

off. I was thinking the ninth of January would be amice date it symbolizes new beginnings. Can we get married on January ninth?"
