Chapter 1008:

Millie was convinced that only by building her own foundation could she claim her place in the world and live with real meaning.

As Myron watched Millie highlighting documents and jotting down plans, a contented smile crossed his face. There was something special about working side by side toward a future they both wanted.

Elsewhere, at the exclusive Blue Lounge, Darden quietly pushed open the door to a private suite and stepped inside.

Spotting Brandon already there, Darden pressed his lips together and hesitated for a moment.

Lately, life had turned upside down. Vivian’s reputation had crashed, and everything between Brandon and Millie kept shifting in ways he never saw coming. He never imagined things would reach this point.

With a heavy sigh, Darden pulled the door shut behind him and joined Brandon at the table. “Brandon…” Darden began, searching for something, anything, that might ease the tension.

The news of Millie’s upcoming wedding to Myron was out, and the date was only three months away.

Brandon remained silent, simply acknowledging Darden with a nod as he poured a drink for him.

Darden accepted the glass and finished it in a single gulp.

The two sat in companionable silence, passing the bottle back and forth. Time slipped by. When there was nothing left to pour, Darden called the staff to bring another bottle.

After a while, he finally broke the silence. “So, what are you planning now?” he asked, keeping his tone gentle. “You and Millie… what’s next?”

Brandon just gave a small shake of his head.

Darden tried to lighten things up. “Want me to set you up with someone else? Seriously, there are a bunch of heiresses hoping you’ll give them a chance. You know you could, if you wanted.”

Ever since he was a teenager, Brandon had been surrounded by admirers — some drawn to his family name, others to his own ambition. But none of that had ever mattered to Brandon. His attention was always on the Watson Group, its future, and how to keep it moving forward.

In all that time, only Millie and Vivian had ever gotten close.

Now, with Millie preparing to marry someone else and Vivian nowhere to be found, Brandon’s world felt emptier than ever.
