Chapter 1041:
On the second day, Yaroslav Technology’s offices remained absolutely packed with interested visitors from dawn until well past sunset.
On the third day, the crowds had grown even larger. Business executives and investors had flown in from other cities the previous afternoon, determined not to miss this opportunity. Nearly everyone seemed fascinated by whatever project Yaroslav Technology was preparing to unveil.
However, beneath all the surface-level enthusiasm, many people were conducting their own quiet assessments and calculations.
The three days might have appeared calm and orderly on the surface, but underneath lurked fierce competition and careful strategic evaluation.
Anika had demonstrated this perfectly by calling Millie several times over the past few days.
Each brief conversation had only added more layers of mystery to the entire situation, revealing just enough information to be intriguing without providing any real answers.
“Come to the hospital this afternoon,” Anika said over the phone during their latest call. “I’d like you to meet my grandfather.”
“I’ll be there,” Millie confirmed.
Within minutes, she received a text message containing the address.
Crobert Hospital.
That meant she’d be on Alexia’s territory.
The thought of Alexia brought a small wave of concern.
Things between Alexia and Sheridan had been going remarkably well lately. They’d recently reached the significant milestone of meeting each other’s families.
Sheridan’s parents had been thoroughly impressed with Alexia and welcomed her warmly.

However, the Hussain family had expressed some reservations about Sheridan’s current level of ambition.
“Alexia has lived her entire life surrounded by privilege and comfort,” Alexia’s mother had said during their meeting. “I recognize that you’re already quite successful by normal standards, but I’m hoping you’ll push yourself to achieve even more. Otherwise, there could be tension between you two down the road.”
According to what Alexia had shared, Sheridan was seriously considering making some significant changes in his career path. He wanted to prove himself worthy of the Hussain family’s approval and meet their expectations.
Millie had no idea how that situation would ultimately play out. With these thoughts occupying her mind, she drove toward the hospital.
Her plan was straightforward. First, she’d speak with Anika’s grandfather. Then she’d track down Alexia to see if there was anything she could do to help her friend’s relationship situation. After all, Alexia and Sheridan had first met through Millie. She felt a certain responsibility for how things turned out.
Before long, her car pulled into a space not far from the hospital entrance. Millie made a quick stop at a nearby gift shop to purchase some appropriate presents before moving her vehicle to the main hospital parking structure.
Walking through the hospital corridors brought back a flood of painful memories she’d tried to bury.
The darkest period of her life had unfolded within these same walls—those terrible days after losing her baby.
