Chapter 1074:
“Then I’ll just wait for the profits,” Charles said playfully.
“You won’t be disappointed,” Millie replied.
Charles smiled at her.
Thinking of something, Foley looked at Millie, still a bit worried.
“Your loan…”
“It’s fine,” she assured him with a gentle smile.
Their teams stayed behind to sort out the follow-up paperwork and everything. Foley invited them to dinner, but Millie politely declined; there was still much to handle.
They parted ways soon after.
Millie and Charles left together, riding in her car, while Taylor and Charles’ men followed in his.
As they drove, Millie explained everything.
With every word, Charles’ expression darkened further. “That snake, Reuben. Threatening and cornering you like that!” he growled.
Millie looked out the window, watching the city slide past. “We’re partners. It’s natural for him to try to shake my position, just so he can get to you,” she said, then turned to him with a small smile.
Charles glanced her way.
“Do me a favor and keep him busy, will you?” Millie asked softly.
Charles smirked.
Millie then asked again, “Any word from Oakley?”
Charles frowned. “Nothing lately. Too quiet. He’s probably plotting something big.”

After a pause, he added, “I still have proof of him and Vivian manipulating stocks. I’m just waiting for the right time to strike.”
Millie smiled approvingly. Charles had changed—more composed now, less impulsive than before.
The car sped on, sleek and silent.
Then came breaking news across the financial world.
“Key Technician’s Departure Leaves Yaroslav Technology’s Future in Doubt—$150M Investment from Millie Bennett and Charles Evans at Risk.”
Underneath the shocking headline, a flood of reports followed.
Photos of Millie and Charles leaving Yaroslav Technology in a hurry were plastered everywhere.
More articles came out, all claiming that Yaroslav Technology’s core technician had flown abroad that very morning.
Even though Foley released a statement saying his partner hadn’t defected and had only gone abroad for urgent business, no one believed him. The timing was far too suspicious.
To everyone, his explanation sounded like a weak excuse.
Those who had once been eager to invest in Yaroslav Technology now felt relieved and grateful that they had held back.
“Thankfully, someone warned us early this morning about their top engineer leaving. Otherwise, we’d have walked straight into that trap!”
