Chapter 1078:

The man finally stopped talking, his face slightly flushed from his passionate speech.

Myron still didn’t respond immediately. An uncomfortable silence settled over the conference room like a heavy blanket. Several people shifted in their seats, avoiding eye contact.

Finally, Myron’s gaze moved slowly around the table, making eye contact with each person present.

“What about the rest of you? Do you share these concerns?” His tone was completely neutral, giving nothing away.

A few exchanged nervous glances. Then, one by one, several people began nodding in agreement with the outspoken man. Soon, a small chorus of voices joined in, until nearly everyone in the room had expressed similar worries about Millie’s supposed poor judgment.

Then something unexpected happened. Myron laughed. It wasn’t a long laugh, just a brief sound of amusement, but it cut through the tension like a knife.

Everyone immediately went silent, waiting anxiously to see what he would say.

“I understand what’s really bothering all of you,” Myron said, his voice quiet but carrying clearly to every corner of the room. “You’re worried about the gossip spreading through business circles. You’ve heard the rumors that Millie and Charles have their money trapped in a failing investment, and it’s making you nervous about how it reflects on this company.”

He paused, letting his words sink in before continuing.

“But let me ask you something. What if the news coming out tomorrow was completely different? What if the headlines said that Millie and Charles’ investment had succeeded brilliantly, doubling or even tripling their initial capital? How would you feel about her business judgment then?”

The question hung in the air. People looked around at each other with confused expressions, clearly caught off guard. The truth was, they had only ever considered the possibility of Millie failing spectacularly. Not a single person in that room had spent even one moment imagining she might actually succeed. Perhaps they had already decided she wasn’t capable of success.

Myron watched their faces carefully, reading their thoughts as clearly as if they’d spoken them aloud.

“You’re all treating gossip and rumors as if they’re established facts,” he said, his disappointment evident in his tone. “Until a situation is completely resolved and final results are in, nothing is certain. Nothing.”

He leaned back in his chair, his expression hardening slightly.

“And there’s another point you seem to be conveniently overlooking. This is JM Investments’ project. Millie invested her own personal money—money she earned herself. Not one single penny came from Elliott Group’s accounts. So why exactly are you all so concerned about it?”

The middle-aged man who had started this whole discussion couldn’t seem to help himself. His face reddened as he spoke up again.

“But when you two get married, her financial disasters will become the company’s problem too! And this isn’t the first time you’ve had to step in and rescue her from her own poor decisions!”

Myron set his pen back down on the table. The small sound seemed much louder than it should have been, drawing everyone’s attention.

“Let me clarify three things for all of you,” Myron said, his voice taking on a sharp edge. “First, the project is still actively in progress. We don’t yet know whether the final outcome will be success or failure. Nobody in this room has a crystal ball.
