Chapter 1097:

Even before it officially began, the stream had already caught everyone’s attention.

For days, rumors had been flying around, claiming that Foley had abandoned his investors and fled with company funds. The story was directly tied to Millie and Charles’ investment in Yaroslav Technology. Before long, the number of people following the issue skyrocketed.

Everyone—from Babette and Brandon to the Evans, Elliott, and Stewart families—was watching closely.

That day, Charles didn’t go to Evans Entertainment. He decided to stay home and rest. He was just coming downstairs to speak with Napier when Oakley returned.

Seeing him, Oakley let out a teasing laugh.

He had been ribbing Charles for days, and today was no exception.

“Charles, why aren’t you at the company?” Oakley smirked, dropping onto the sofa. “What’s wrong? Lost your fortune and too ashamed to show your face there?”

Charles rolled his eyes and poured himself a cup of coffee.

“Honestly, Charles, you trust Millie too much,” Oakley went on, his tone sharp. “Sure, her winning that show Heavenly Melody made you a pile of cash, but now you’ve lost so much, it’s just embarrassing.”

He turned to Napier, his grin widening. “Grandpa, maybe he’s acting all diligent these days because he wants to borrow money from the family?”

As usual, Napier stayed quiet, unwilling to step into the brothers’ squabbles.

Charles brought his grandfather a cup of coffee with a smile, and then sat beside him to watch the live stream.

Oakley realized he was being ignored. With nothing else to do, he turned his gaze to the screen as well.

He was itching to see how Charles would react once Foley appeared on camera.

He couldn’t wait for the moment Foley said, “Hello everyone, I’ve run off with the money!”

Meanwhile, Foley’s equipment was all set.

In her office, Millie sat calmly, her face unreadable.

The background behind Foley clearly showed he was in a hotel room. He faced the camera with a grin.

“Hello everyone, I’m Foley Carter from Yaroslav Technology. I’ve run off with the money—just kidding! I haven’t gone anywhere.” He chuckled and added, “Actually, I’ve brought someone with me.”

He shifted the camera, and Spencer came into view, smiling as he sat beside Foley.

“I haven’t abandoned ship either,” Spencer said with a light laugh. “I’m still part of Yaroslav Technology.”

Foley nodded, resting a hand on Spencer’s shoulder. “Today, we’re here to clear up the rumors about our core tech engineer leaving the company. This is our key tech guy. And as you can see, he’s right here with us.”

Spencer smiled warmly. “Yes, I’m still here—and I’ll continue working with Yaroslav Technology.”

They took turns explaining what had really happened in recent days. Their trip to Flaville, they clarified, wasn’t an escape—it was for a family member’s surgery.

As planned, they didn’t mention Millie.
