Chapter 1121:

Since her own company had given basically everyone the day off, she’d decided to visit Myron at his office.

Ari had come along as well, and she was currently playing with Orange, the cat.

Millie and Myron sat together on the leather sofa, watching Ari and Orange tumble around with amused smiles on their faces. After a few minutes of comfortable silence, Myron turned to look at Millie with genuine curiosity in his eyes.

“What are you planning to do next?” he asked thoughtfully, clearly impressed by her recent brilliant maneuvering in the commodities market. “Are you going to continue with futures trading and build on this success?”

Millie shook her head decisively.

“That’s not where my focus lies,” she said, her voice calm and certain.

Myron’s eyes filled with genuine admiration as he watched her. Whether it was gold, copper, or any other volatile commodity, Millie never let greed cloud her judgment.

Millie picked up a cat teaser and began playing with Orange, the fluffy ginger cat immediately pouncing on the dangling toy with enthusiasm. Ari squealed with delight and joined in the fun.

When Millie didn’t hear any response from Myron, she glanced up curiously and found him watching her with the gentlest expression.

A warm smile spread across her face. “I’m planning to visit Yaroslav Technology soon. Spencer’s been back for a while now, and I’m really curious about how their technological breakthroughs are progressing.”

Myron nodded slowly. He already knew about her plan—she had mentioned it to him before.

“Still,” he said, “don’t underestimate Babette. Adriana mentioned that she’s been raising funds again—several times, in fact. No one’s quite sure what she’s planning, but it doesn’t sound good.”

Millie paused, considering this information carefully before shaking her head. “I honestly have no idea what she’s up to.”

The last thing she’d heard was that Brandon had stepped in and forced Babette to retreat the moment her losses began piling up. Since then, whatever Babette planned to do with the new funds she’d gathered remained a mystery—and Millie doubted Babette would ever reveal it. Not that it mattered to her.

The market was always unpredictable; even a single misstep could turn success into disaster. This time, she had made her move only after weighing every possible risk.

Though her profits were impressive, Millie knew better than to grow complacent.

It was wiser to step back while she was still ahead.

“Let’s not talk about her anymore,” Millie said finally, a faint smile returning to her lips. “Anika invited me to dinner—I should start getting ready.”

Clearly, Adkins had known something Millie didn’t, and Anika, as always, had been nothing but kind to her.

Before leaving, Millie crouched down and pulled Ari into her arms.

“You’re just too adorable, sweetheart,” she said with a laugh.

Ari giggled, her clothes dusted with Orange’s fur—some of which ended up clinging to Millie too.

Later that evening at the restaurant, when Millie finally settled into her chair in the private dining room, she noticed a few persistent cat hairs still clinging stubbornly to her clothing.
