Chapter 1153:
Off to the side, Babette stood surrounded by admirers, watching the scene unfold with a cold smirk.
“Keep grinning while you can. The moment I pull Watson Group’s strings, Millie won’t have a place left at Yaroslav Technology. Their luck’s about to run out,” she pondered. Babette’s eyes darted to her assistant, silently issuing a command.
Catching on immediately, the assistant fired off the photo of Charles backing Millie she had snapped earlier to Trudy’s phone. Trudy, however, left the message unanswered.
Inside Yaroslav Technology, the atmosphere had turned electric as the building swelled with guests. So many people poured in that the original conference room plan went out the window, forcing everyone to gather in the main lobby instead. Millie, Charles, Anika, and Jace managed to claim a spot together amid the crowded chaos.
The doors swung open, and Foley strode into the room, pausing at the front. A broad smile lit up his face.
“I appreciate you all making time to be here. Honestly, I never expected the turnout to be this massive. That said, we’re only aiming to raise 150 million for this round. I know that might not meet everyone’s hopes, so let me apologize in advance.”
No sooner had Foley wrapped up than someone spoke up from the crowd.
“Mr. Carter, 150 million won’t even scratch the surface. Can’t you set the target a bit higher?”
A chorus of agreement followed, with more people voicing support for a larger fundraising goal.
Foley remained firm, unfazed by the crowd’s requests.
“I’m sorry, but this is a fixed plan,” he said, his tone even.
“We’ve got internal strategies to follow, so I hope everyone can respect that.”
Although a few investors grumbled, none argued. Disappointment was clear, but nobody wanted to push too hard. Everyone understood the stakes. With Yaroslav Technology’s value ready to skyrocket, it was only natural they’d avoid overextending their shares or letting in too many new players.

“There are far more interested parties than we can accommodate. I suggest we run a pre-selection to narrow things down,” remarked Foley, turning to the room in an attempt to restore order.
Most people in the lobby would never make it to the final meeting. Only a handful would be allowed past the doors.
“Thank you all for your enthusiasm. If our company continues to expand, there will be more funding rounds down the line. For now, please consider this an open invitation to support us in the future.” Foley addressed the disappointed investors with a polite smile.
“We’re not leaving yet. We want to see how this shakes out.”
“Yeah, I want to know who’s going to land the deal. My boss sent me here to report back directly.”
No one in the crowd made a move to exit. The entire scene had become too intriguing to walk away from.
Most had arrived with realistic expectations, well aware that actually landing a spot was unlikely. They were here for the excitement as much as the opportunity. Traveling this far, turning around now simply wasn’t an option. Everyone settled in, determined to stick it out and witness how everything played out.
Foley made no effort to hurry anyone along. Whatever he truly felt inside, he kept his composure, maintaining that polite, businesslike smile.
