Chapter 1178:
The tall man quickly explained, “Back when Yaroslav Technology was struggling to secure funding, Myron said Millie had good instincts and wanted to invest in the project as well, but we stopped him, and all of us criticized her for it. Now people are saying that if we’d just listened to Myron and made a small test investment, we wouldn’t be stuck in this mess today. They’re complaining about the year-end bonuses and dividends they could have received.”
Jose slammed his palm on the table.
Everyone fell silent immediately.
“They’re all whining over bonuses and dividends!” Jose snapped.
“They seem to have forgotten why we got into this in the first place!”
The others traded uneasy glances. One of them muttered under his breath, “Regardless of the reason, people are demanding accountability. They want an explanation.”
In truth, none of them were satisfied either.
Who wouldn’t want a bigger payout?
Like Myron had said before, Elliott Group took on dozens of projects every year. Not every one of them turned a profit. Some were bound to fail; that was the nature of business. Their own ventures had lost money too.
The amount Yaroslav Technology needed had been relatively small by comparison.
Back then, they had deliberately created hurdles for Myron and Millie, rallying support from neutral colleagues who believed Millie’s investment would backfire and cut into their own dividends.
But now, the decision not to invest had caused even bigger losses, and those same people were panicking.
“Mr. Grant, we really need to find a solution. Otherwise, things could get ugly,” the bearded man said gravely.
With a snort, Jose slammed the table again, fury flashing in his eyes. Millie. Again.
Jose was convinced she had orchestrated this, using her influence to seize all the best opportunities for herself.
If Elliott Group had been able to invest this time, he could have spun it to their advantage, claiming they had acted cautiously the first time, then invested later after due diligence, minimizing risk. That way, they wouldn’t be in such a humiliating position now. But that chance was gone.

Worse still, everyone knew that Evans Group would back Charles without hesitation. Even if another large investment opportunity appeared, Evans Group would snatch it up, because they, too, needed to reinvent themselves.
“Mr. Grant…”
“I’ll handle it,” Jose said coldly.
“Here’s what we’re going to do next…”
He began outlining a long series of instructions.
By the time they wrapped up, the next meeting was about to begin. They hurried to the conference room, coordinating with a few others to ensure everyone was aligned.
But before they could finish their discussion, the door swung open, and Myron walked in.
His keen eyes roamed the room, instantly noting the tension and expectancy written on everyone’s faces. Even though he could read their thoughts with ease, he made no remark and simply took his usual seat at the head of the table.
“Let’s get started,” Myron said.
