Chapter 1260:

Only then did Babette fully grasp what had just happened. She shot Millie a furious glare.

“Myron can’t always help you, Millie. I can still ruin Yaroslav Technology.”

Charles, already irritated from being dragged out of bed before sunrise and wrestling through endless red tape, was now outright furious.

Babette’s blatant attempt to wreck the very project he had just helped push through—alongside his grandfather—was the last straw.

He snapped at her, “Sure, the Watson family has influence. But do you really think the Watson Group can take on both the Evans Group and the Elliott Group at the same time? Not even Brandon could pull something like that off. You’d better think twice about what you’re risking!”

“What? Are you all turning against me now?” Babette snapped, her eyes blazing.

“Come on, Millie, let’s face it—you’re still nothing more than a pretty face propped up by men!”

Myron frowned and stepped forward, but Millie lifted a hand, signaling him and the others to leave first.

“I’m not against you,” Millie said evenly once the door shut behind them.

“I only cleaned up the mess you caused.”

Babette’s temper flared, her voice trembling with emotion.

“Millie! You once said you’d stand on your own two feet! Yet here you are, still leaning on Charles and Myron!”

Millie’s gaze softened with quiet pity.

“I did work with the Evans and Elliott families,” she said.

Babette’s lips curled into a bitter smile.

“So you admit it! You broke your word! Everything you said at JM’s opening gala was just hot air!”

Millie didn’t answer. She reached for the laptop Foley had left behind, opened a file, checked something, and slid it across the table toward Babette.

“What’s that supposed to be?” Babette scoffed, barely glancing at the screen.

“As of today, I hold shares in the Elliott Group. It’s a small stake, but the documents are finalized,” Millie said calmly.

Babette blinked, stunned.

“What? Did Myron hand that to you?”

“No. I earned it another way,” Millie replied.

Babette’s voice rose, nearly a shout.

“So what’s the difference? You’re still leaning on them!”

Millie moved closer and sat beside her.

“There’s a big difference,” she said softly but firmly.

“When you tried to ruin Yaroslav Technology, you thought you were only targeting me, but that wasn’t the case. Charles and Myron aren’t helping out of affection—they’re protecting their own investments.”

She laid it out plainly, her voice calm but edged like steel.

“Charles needs this project to strengthen his position in the Evans family. The Evans family plans to invest even more. And the Elliott Group owns shares now—shares I sold to them myself. If you torch Yaroslav, you’re not humiliating me. You’re attacking their interests, and they’ll respond accordingly.”

Yaroslav falls, both families will take a heavy loss. Do you really think they’d stand by and let that happen?”
