Chapter 1271:

Babette’s phone started buzzing nonstop.

At first, she sat in Yaroslav Technology’s conference room, seething and hurling things aside just to vent her fury. But the relentless ringing finally forced her to check her phone.

Before she could even answer, the conference room door flew open, and her secretary rushed in, breathless.

“Miss Watson, there’s a problem!” she panted.

“Your grandfather wants you back at Moonlit Estate right now!”

“What?” Babette shot to her feet, gripping her phone so tightly her knuckles blanched.

The secretary swallowed hard.

“He found out what you did. He’s furious.”

After catching her breath, she added, “And… I saw this on my way here.”

She handed Babette a tablet displaying the latest online discussions about Millie—and the mockery being thrown at Babette.

Babette stared at the screen and froze.

Every secret she’d buried had been dragged into the open for the whole world to see.

Her hand trembled as she grabbed the edge of the table for balance.

The phone kept vibrating.

She didn’t dare look again, but when Adalyn’s name flashed across the screen, she hesitated—then answered. Adalyn was her friend, her closest confidante.

“Adalyn…” Babette’s voice came out thin.

“Babette, are those things online true?” Adalyn demanded.

Babette didn’t want to admit it, but lying was pointless.

“Yes.”

A cold laugh echoed from the other end.

“Do you realize what you’ve done? Because of you, I’m the joke of high society too!”

Babette frowned in confusion.

“What are you talking about?”

“When you needed money, I helped you get it. Now everyone knows what you used it for, and I’m being dragged down with you!” Adalyn snapped.

No one believed Adalyn’s claims that she had merely helped raise the funds. They all thought she must have known more.

Adalyn had tried to defend herself, but who would believe her? She couldn’t refute the accusations and was utterly frustrated.

Frustration filled her voice.

“Babette, do you even know how few real friends you have? I’m done with your arrogance! Let me be honest—if it weren’t for your family name and your ties with Brandon, I’d have stayed far away from you. And now? The whole world knows what you’ve done. Pathetic!”

Before Babette could respond, the line went dead.

“Adalyn! Adalyn!” Babette shouted, but there was no reply. She called again, only to realize she had been blocked.

Her phone kept pinging with new messages—people demanding answers, mocking her for spreading lies about Yaroslav Technology.
