Chapter 1276:

“Millie, some old videos of you from your time in Flesta have started spreading online.”

Millie’s brows drew together as she opened her messages. Then she saw Egbert’s message.

“People online are questioning your contributions to Watson Group. They’re saying you only began to succeed after getting together with Myron, and some think Myron orchestrated it all.” Egbert added, “I’ve been mulling over it, and I’ve decided to make what happened back then public. Millie, I’ve moved on from it. Have you?”

Her chest tightened as the image of that lost child rose in her mind again. The freezing air. The unbearable pain. How could she ever move on from that?

She didn’t respond.

Instead, she tapped the link Taylor had sent, skimmed through the contents, and then handed the phone to Babette.

She said, “Egbert said he’d told you everything. But I’m not sure how much he actually shared—or whether you even understood. It’s easy to talk about these things, but living through them… the pain is something else entirely.”

Egbert had released the surveillance footage from the life-and-death bet back in Flesta.

Millie had already been under heavy public scrutiny, and the video only made things worse.

In the footage, Brandon could be seen leaving with the others, abandoning Millie by the icy pool. Moments later, armed men surrounded her and pointed their guns directly at her. One of them even fired into the air. The deafening crack made it clear the weapon was real—and loaded.

The comment section blew up.

“What’s going on? Aren’t guns illegal here? This is insane!”

“This doesn’t look like our country. Listen to their language—it must be Flesta.”

“Oh right! Now I remember. Watson Group’s big breakthrough started when they went to Flesta for a deal with the Perez family. That opened their path into the international market and kicked off their transformation!”

“Didn’t Brandon go there just to sign the contract? Flesta, Brandon, Millie… and that man looks like the head of the Perez family. Is this footage actually from when they sealed the deal?”

“I studied in Flesta for a few years, and I’ve heard the rumors. For years, the Perez family dominated a certain high-tech field, holding an exclusive core technology that no one else in the world could replicate. A few years ago, Watson Group managed to break through that monopoly. Since then, the market has been divided. Watson Group and the Perez company each control half of the domestic and international markets. Back then, it was Brandon who led the team and brought the technology to Flesta to negotiate and secure the contract.”

“But rumor has it that Egbert, the current head of the Perez family, played countless business partners, and the only real contract he signed was with Watson Group—because he supposedly lost a bet.”

“I’ve heard that too. Egbert’s reputation for being ruthless is no secret!”

As the comments kept pouring in, the video continued playing.

Tension between Egbert and Millie grew with every passing second. The moment a gun was pressed to Millie’s forehead, everyone watching felt their hearts seize.
