Chapter 1297:
Sheridan explained the nature of his business, and the group continued chatting about work for a while.
Alexia shot Sheridan a sharp look and pinched his arm.
“This is Millie’s engagement party. Why are you going on about unrelated issues? Read the room!”
Sheridan conceded with a sheepish look. He rubbed the back of his head and offered an apology.
“I started the crented out the entire place. There were both outdoor and indoor areas. It had been a long time since everyone had gathered like this, and they chatted endlessly.
The venue
Alexia’s cheeks flushed. She remembered the worries she’d shared with Millie about Sheridan’s new business and suddenly felt a little embarrassed. The more she thought about it, the redder her face grew, so she quickly changed the subject and turned to Charles and Trudy.
“Charles, how is everything with the Evans family? Are your brothers acting up?”
“Absolutely,” Charles replied with exaggerated flair.
“Those two fools have been giving me sour looks for days. They think they’re intimidating me, but no.” He wagged a finger with pride.
“Watching them pout only entertains me. Their behavior right now is nothing but worthless rage.”
Everyone burst into laughter.
Trudy added, “Charles recently made himself president of your fan club.”
“My fan club?” Millie looked confused.
Trudy chuckled.
“Millie, you have no idea how many people are scrambling to be your fan now.”
Millie looked at Charles, who was laughing so hard he could barely breathe.
“Charles, I’ve said this so many times. We’re friends, we’re partners, and we’re equals. Please stop giving people the impression that you’re some kind of overly devoted follower who contributes nothing,” Millie said, her concern sincere.

This was something she needed to make clear. She wanted her friendship with Charles to stay strong and steady.
“We know, we know. Just pulling your leg,” Trudy said, laughing so hard she could barely speak.
She used to frown at that rumor, but now she found it funny instead.
Jayceon and Adriana joined in, sharing bits of new gossip they’d heard. The atmosphere grew livelier by the minute.
Myron had rented out the entire place. There were both outdoor and indoor areas. It had been a long time since everyone had gathered like this, and they chatted endlessly.
The venue had a pool, billiards, and even a salon corner—more than enough to keep the whole group entertained all day.
Soon, the sky began to darken.
A barbecue was set up in the middle of the yard, and everyone was having a great time, enjoying the delicious food and their friends’ company.
Then footsteps approached from behind.
“Ah!” Alexia turned to pass a skewer and startled when she saw Babette standing a short distance away.
