Chapter 1322:

She laughed so hard she started hiccupping. She’d cried from sorrow, and now she was crying from laughter.

Myron quickly brought her a glass of water, but even after drinking, the hiccups wouldn’t stop.

“Try holding your breath,” Myron suggested as he searched online.

“Take a deep breath, hold it for ten to fifteen seconds, then exhale slowly. Do it a few times. It usually works.”

Millie pinched her nose to hold her breath—and then reached over and pinched his nose too.

At some point, her hiccups stopped. And somehow, that turned into a breath-holding contest.

Myron gave up first.

Millie was out of breath too, but she exhaled the moment he did. They inhaled deeply together—and then burst into laughter all over again.

They lay back on the sofa, laughing until they were completely worn out.

“Ronnie,” Millie called softly.

“Yes?” he replied.

“Ronnie.”

“Yeah?”

“Ronnie, Ronnie.”

“Yes, I’m here.”

“I love you,” she whispered, turning toward him.

In the past, whenever she felt helpless or sad, she would go to her parents. After her father died and her mother drifted away, all she could do was visit her father’s grave.

But just now, when she looked up and saw Myron, she felt something new—somewhere to lean on.

With him, she didn’t need to pretend to be strong. She could cry or laugh freely.

Myron brushed her cheek with his fingers.

“Millie, I love you too,” he murmured, warmth filling his voice. Then he leaned in and kissed her.

A few minutes later, Millie gently pulled his hand away from under her clothes.

“Let’s not get carried away in the office,” she said, her cheeks warming. People were coming and going just outside the door.

“Alright.” Myron sighed, glancing down with clear regret.

Millie grew shy and quickly changed the subject.

“Hey, did you come here for something?” she asked.

“You weren’t answering my messages, so I came to check on you,” he said.

Millie remembered she had been choosing photos before Wade arrived.

She rose from the sofa, and Myron stood with her, steadying her as he did.

They walked to the desk together. Millie opened a folder, and they started going through the photos.

In the end, they chose one where they were looking into each other’s eyes for the invitation.
