Chapter 1323:
“I heard Wade was here earlier,” Myron said.
“Everything okay?”
Millie nodded.
“I’ll handle it myself.”
Myron turned toward Millie, a gentle warmth settling in his eyes.
He drew her close, held her against his chest, and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead.
“I really want you to lean on me whenever you need to,” he said quietly.
Millie slowly lifted her head until her eyes met his. She was close enough to see every line of his face.
“Fine,” she said, her voice carrying a sincere promise rather than a careless reply.
“Investigating my father’s death is only going to get harder. So if I reach out to you later for support, you’d better not turn me down.”
“There’s no world where I’d say no to you,” he replied.
He had started looking into the matter long before she spoke. Even so, everything ahead still felt hazy—difficult to grasp.
Sunlight poured in with a golden glow as he studied the gentle curve of her profile, his gaze softening with affection.
After leaving Millie’s office, he stepped into the hallway, where warm amber light brightened every corner of the building. People at JM Investments moved with quiet focus, each absorbed in their work.
Taylor had gone into Millie’s office to deliver a report, so Myron waited by her desk.
“Mr. Elliott.”
“Good afternoon, Mr. Elliott.”
He returned each greeting with a polite nod.
When Taylor came back out, he approached her.
“Mr. Elliott?” Taylor asked, confused by the sudden attention.

“What’s going on between Wade and Millie?” Myron asked without hesitation.
“Did you catch anything about what happened in her office today?”
Taylor paused before answering.
“Earlier, when the two of them were talking in her office, they told everyone else to step out. I’m not sure what they discussed. But from what I do know, it looked like they were having some kind of disagreement about a potted plant.”
Taylor knew exactly who her boss was, so she stayed within the limits of what was harmless and widely known—even if the man questioning her happened to be her boss’s future husband.
Still, she could feel Myron’s steady gaze resting on her, sending a ripple of nerves through her.
He paused for a moment before giving her a brief nod.
“You’re doing a great job. Keep it up.”
Without waiting for a reply, he turned and walked away.
Still uneasy, Taylor tapped lightly on Millie’s office door and stepped inside to share what had just happened.
“Millie, do you have any idea what Mr. Elliott was trying to get across?” Taylor asked, unable to hide her uncertainty.
Millie understood immediately.
