Chapter 1389:
The phone buzzed again with another incoming video call.
“Answer it,” Vivian taunted.
“Why not? He’ll see for himself what you kept me in. He won’t imagine I lived in luxury.”
Brandon gritted his teeth, the relentless ringing stabbing at his nerves. He slammed on the brakes, leaned back, shoved a cloth into her mouth, then started the car again and accepted the call.
“Brandon!” Macauley’s face twisted with fury.
“Why did you hang up? Are you harming her again?”
Brandon remained silent, his eyes locked on Macauley.
“Where is Vivian? Why is she quiet? Let me talk to her!” Macauley demanded.
“Macauley,” Brandon said coldly, “we are exchanging people now. Keep this in mind—if anything happens to Millie or Ari, Vivian will not survive either.”
His tone dropped lower, heavier.
“I have stepped down as Watson Group’s CEO. I no longer fear dirtying my hands.”
The two men stared at each other, the madness in their expressions mirroring one another.
“Very well,” Macauley said, his grin feral. He turned his head and barked, “Come over here!”
Brandon’s grip on the wheel tightened.
Inside the abandoned factory, Ari was tied down. Millie stood several paces away, defiant despite her trembling hands.
“I said come here!” Macauley snapped.
Millie hesitated, her breath shallow.
He gave a chilling laugh, grabbed a knife from a table, and slashed it across Ari’s arm.
Ari screamed, blood splattering across the dusty ground.
“Ah! Ahh! It hurts!”

“Stop! Please, stop!” Millie cried, rushing forward, her heart nearly splitting in two.
“Don’t hurt her! I’ll do whatever you want.”
Macauley laughed like a maniac, a brutal reminder that she had no room to refuse.
His voice dripped with triumph.
“That’s more like it.” He shifted his stance and barked, “On your knees.”
Millie’s gaze flicked to Ari, who still lay bleeding on the concrete, her breaths shallow. Millie’s heart lurched.
From the phone, Brandon’s voice exploded—a roar filled with fury and helplessness.
“Macauley!”
The sound only fueled Macauley’s amusement. He laughed, low and cruel, his lips curling with manic delight.
“I warn you,” Brandon thundered from the speaker, “Vivian is still in my hands!”
“So what?” Macauley replied, his tone slicing through the air like ice.
“I just saw Vivian. She was already battered and broken by you. As a result…” His gaze slid toward Millie, savoring the fear trembling through her.
“Your beloved woman should suffer too.”
“Macauley…” Millie whispered, lifting her head.
He ignored her completely. Instead, he leaned closer, letting her see the darkness swirling behind his eyes.
“Oh, that is not all.”
