Chapter 1424:
The medical examiner, already waiting, stepped forward immediately.
Though the bodies were almost skeletal from the flames, the autopsy process could still be done. The remains were then taken away for further examination.
Lynda and her colleagues continued managing the aftermath.
“Public debate online is escalating, and people want answers immediately,” a colleague reminded her, watching the bodies being moved. “It’s a direct order from above.”
Lynda understood the weight of the situation. The incident had been broadcast live, drawing the eyes of the entire nation.
“What’s happening at the hospital?” she asked. “We must know what unfolded after the explosion.”
“Last I checked, all three of them haven’t woken yet—still in critical condition,” the colleague replied without delay.
A somber silence settled over them.
Finally, Lynda said, “Send someone to follow up at the hospital. And keep checking the scene—there may still be clues we’ve missed.”
Everyone agreed and went on with the investigation into the explosion’s cause.
Online discussions, however, did not slow. People were hungry for every scrap of new information.
With so many witnesses and reporters, updates surfaced constantly.
“Just received news—the fire has been extinguished and bodies recovered, but no confirmation of identities yet,” a journalist on-site reported.
The hospital was surrounded by crowds, but security held the core areas tightly, allowing no one inside to probe for answers.
“There’s no official update yet, just rumors that the woman brought in remains in critical condition, while the others are stable.”
This alone fueled countless speculations.
“If it were that little girl, they would say ‘child’ instead of ‘woman.’ So it must be one of the only other two women—Vivian or Millie. Which one is it?”
“Word is the city’s major family heads are all waiting there. If it were Vivian, they wouldn’t likely have bothered. It must be Millie.”
“Do you think Millie can survive? She was beaten terribly, especially those last few kicks… her internal organs might be injured, and she was coughing blood.”
“I’m not sure. She just had her wedding. How heartbreaking!”
Across Crobert, celebrations for Millie and Myron’s wedding continued, seemingly untouched by the storm that had already swept through the city.
With Myron unconscious and no one in the mood—or position—to announce the truth, the festivities carried on outside the emergency room as if walking on a tightrope between joy and despair.
The public was spreading happiness with one hand, yet clutching dread with the other, knowing the couple might not survive the night.
The contrast was almost unbearable.
The Internet was flooded with posts.
The tragedy had ignited fierce curiosity, and people clamored for answers, justice, and closure.
