Chapter 1425:

In the hospital hallway, everyone waited anxiously.

It was impossible to tell how long they had been there; dawn slowly crept in, softening the edges of their exhaustion. At last, the doors to the operation room opened, and someone was wheeled out.

“Millie!”

The crowd hurried forward as if pulled by the same thread.

Lying on the bed was a pale, unconscious Millie.

Everyone turned to the doctor at once.

“Doctor, how is she?” they asked, their voices tight with fear.

“She has been treated, but she isn’t out of danger yet,” the doctor answered as Millie was transferred to the intensive care unit.

Her injuries were severe; even with every effort made, she remained in critical condition and would need constant monitoring.

Nicole emerged shortly after, having never left Millie’s side.

Despite repeated pleas for her to rest, she refused, convinced that stepping away—even for a moment—might bring unbearable consequences.

Charles immediately supported her, while Trudy handed her tissues to wipe her tears.

At that point, none of them had the strength to say much more.

The day’s turmoil had drained them all, body and spirit.

They then arranged shifts—some would rest while others waited—knowing dawn would bring new burdens, especially for the Watson and Elliott families.

With Myron and Brandon each as their own company’s pillar, any blow to either man shook the whole family and their business.

Even though Brandon had resigned before heading to the factory, the ripple effects were impossible to avoid.

Myron’s situation was no less dire.

Only the Evans family fared slightly better.

Yet Charles had always declared himself Millie’s loyal ally. Everyone knew his fortunes were tied to hers, and if she truly did not survive, the Evans family’s power balance would shift drastically against him.

That night, all of Crobert seemed restless.

Time moved slowly, like water dripping through tightly clenched fingers.

Aside from Ari, Brandon was the first to regain consciousness. Voices stirred around him as he opened his eyes.

“Brandon, you’re awake?” Babette’s voice reached him, and he turned toward her weakly.

People near the door rushed forward immediately.

“Brandon, you’re finally awake!” Darden exclaimed, adjusting Brandon’s bed and anxiously asking, “How do you feel?”

Memories crashed into Brandon in an instant.

“Millie!” He tried to sit up, but Darden quickly held him back.
