Chapter 1447:

“Got it,” Taylor said before walking out.

Myron cleared the pile of work from recent days, then asked Mack to come in.

“Get ready. We’re returning to the hospital,” Myron said.

Mack moved behind him to handle the wheelchair. Myron felt lightheaded, but he still reached for the photograph on Millie’s desk.

“Bring this potted plant as well,” he said, holding Ari’s hand.

Mack agreed immediately and arranged for someone to move it downstairs.

At the hospital, Brandon sat silently in his wheelchair, staring at Millie through the glass. An oxygen mask covered most of her face, and bandages wrapped her bruised body. Her injuries were truly severe.

When Myron headed to East Mountain, Brandon knew exactly why. His own legs held him back. He regretted not being the one to go.

Brandon lowered his head and looked at his legs. Doctors had arranged a follow-up surgery and brought in an overseas team, but even so, he did not know if he would ever fully recover.

The room was quiet except for the sharp beeping of machines.

“Millie…” Brandon murmured, his voice trembling. “Even if I want to do something for you, I no longer have the right.”

Even visiting her required Myron’s permission. He had slipped in today while Myron was away at JM Investments.

It shouldn’t have been like this. He should have been her husband. They should have built their life together—with their children. But he ruined it all himself.

Footsteps neared. Someone stopped beside him.

Brandon looked up and saw Simon.

“Dad…” Brandon whispered.

Simon looked through the glass at Millie.

“You must accept the consequences of your choices. She is no longer yours,” Simon said.

“But…” Brandon’s eyes were red.

“Everyone knows she is Myron’s wife,” Simon said sharply. “Brandon, remember your place.”

Brandon lowered his gaze, his fists tightening on his lap.

“You are the successor of the Watson Group. We are aging. The company still needs you. Will you really let yourself fall apart like this?”

Brandon said nothing.

“She once admired you. But things have changed. Heal your legs, focus on your future, and become someone worthy again—for her sake. Hovering around her will only burden her,” Simon said firmly.

His words struck deep as Brandon looked at Millie again. Memories rose.

As a child, he envied the Bennett family. As a teenager, he was drawn to her long hair swaying in the autumn wind while she played the song “Bird’s Poem” with her violin. Her red dress danced lightly, and he was captivated.

He had always wanted to stay close. Even knowing the risks surrounding her family’s affairs, he remained, telling everyone he would protect what belonged to them.

Then everything between them unfolded. Years together. Two lost children. How could he simply let go?
